A mildly entertaining remake that is not as good as the original, not even close. This effort lacks any emotion and although the cast is amazingly capable, it feels phoned in. However if you look at it like B movie camp like the original, it can be kind of entertaining.

This is a movie that for some reason we were forced to sit through as it is the only "date movie" this week. That said, it has a few laughs, very few and it plays like a sketch comedy that falls flat. The under 25 crowd seemed to like it though (read teenage girls).

What a strange television season 2009-2010 is turning out to be! All previous conventions have been thrown out the window: reruns are pretty much nonexistent; one reality cycle ends and the next one begins immediately (So You Think You Can Dance, Survivor and The Biggest Loser for example); new shows were introduced in January (Human Target, The Deep End); some returning shows aren't showing up until February (Lost); others air a few episodes, then vanish for months (Glee, FlashForward, V). Even President Obama allegedly moved his State of the Union address so as not to clash with Lost's season premiere!...

Excessively violent, crazy fights, magic bullets, crazy car chases, crashes, and more. In other words first rate entertainment. Travolta is magic here as he plays the part completely over the top with just a little bit of a wink and a nod to great buddy cop flicks of the past. It works fantastically as does his chemistry with Meyers. The formula is freshened and you get the feeling this is not a one shot deal. I am ready for more now...

I'm not much of a late-night talk show watcher, but I'm most intrigued by the brouhaha caused by the failure of Jay Leno's 10 pm talk show. It's been a long time since there's been such a ruckus over a show and NBC is not handling it well as it tries to save face. As this is written, nothing has been confirmed, but the rumor is that Jay Leno will retake The Tonight Show and Conan O'Brien will be unceremoniously tossed out. Though I am a fan of neither, this is just so wrong on so many levels...

We just finished watching The DaVinci Code, a pretty decent movie, this is not a movie review however, but a commentary. You see, the thing I could not get over in the movie was Paul Bettanys self flagellation nude scenes. They were wonderfully acted, almost too well acted, but it really made me wonder what is wrong with the ratings board and really, America in general. This is a rant, because I am tired of this society teaching my children that something like that is OK, but that a breast, or anything sexual is something to be hidden from the world
