This film shows the beauty of today's multiple distribution channels. I would have never have caught this wonderful indy film just a few years ago. The characters are deeply flawed individuals who have rich stories that come to life through this piece of cinematic art...more

Salt goes on the run, using all her skills and years of experience as a covert operative to elude capture. Salt's efforts to prove her innocence only serve to cast doubt on her motives, as the hunt to uncover the truth behind her identity continues and the question remains: "Who Is Salt?"

EN 5 Second Review: Jolie as Bourne. That is the best way to sum this up, its an enjoyable ride due to the presence of Jolie who again solidifies her status as THE female action star in Hollywood.

The Ten Most Anticipated Movies of 2010

By Michael Larson © 2009

There are three we think will be great, four that could go either way, and three that we think will probably end up as crap. It's also very early in the cycle so don't hold us to any of it. However, it is very apparent in looking through next years movies that Hollywood is officially out of ideas. Eight of these ten movies are either sequels, old stories, or based on graphic Novels. The good news? There is an abundance of hotness coming to a screen near you in 2010...more

In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by a small army of minions, we discover Gru (voiced by Steve Carell), planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon (Yes, the moon!) in Universal's new 3-D CGI feature, "Despicable Me."

Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad.

The world's greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes

EN 5 Second Review: It's hard to dislike this movie. It's not great, but very serviceable for a kids flick that parents can enjoy too. It's actually quite witty in the vein of Spy vs. Spy at times.

Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in an original sci-fi actioneer that travels around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible—inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming. This summer, your mind is the scene of the crime

EN 5 Second Review: Just a brilliant sci-fi movie that is going to be a classic. The best of the genre in several years. A must see.

Screenwriter: Alex Litvak, Michael Finch
Starring: Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Walton Goggins, Laurence Fishburne, Danny Trejo, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Louiz Ozawa

Official Website: Predators-movie.com

Robert Rodriguez presents a bold new chapter in the Predator universe, "Predators," shot on location under Rodriguez's creative auspices at the filmmaker's Austin-based Troublemaker Studios, directed by Nimrod Antal. The film stars Oscar®-winner Adrien Brody ("The Pianist") as Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they've been brought together on an alien planet... as prey. With the exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers - mercenaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members - human "predators" that are now being systemically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators.

EN 5 Second Review: What more can be said about Robert Rodriguez. We never would have believed it, but he has resurrected this franchise along the lines of the original which is to say nothing more than a cowboy movie and it just works even today.

Ramona's vivid imagination, boundless energy, and accident-prone antics keep everyone she meets on their toes. But her irrepressible sense of fun, adventure and mischief come in handy when she puts her mind to helping save her family’s home.

EN 5 Second Review: A sweet summer film that does the popular movie series justice. A fantastic find in newcomer Joey King as Ramona

Starring: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ashley Greene, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Dakota Fanning
Genre: Drama, Romance, Thriller
MPAA Rating: PG-13 (for intense sequences of action and violence, and some sensuality)
Official Website: Eclipsethemovie.com

EN 5 Second Review: This is a tough review to write. For the first time we feel as if we can almost recommend a twilight film. The audience at our screening loved it although it is touch to judge by the group of 16 year old girls we were in the theater with as their reaction to every male bared chest was just downright scary. We still prefer True Blood, but for a teenage girl this is an adequate replacement without the sex and violence of True Blood. If you must sit through it with your daughter at least you will survive.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

Director: Jon Turteltaub
Screenwriter: Matt Lopez, Doug Miro, Carlo Bernard
Starring: Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel, Alfred Molina, Teresa Palmer, Monica Bellucci, Toby Kebbell
Genre: Adventure, Comedy
MPAA Rating: PG (for fantasy action violence, some mild rude humor and brief language)
Official Website: Disney.com

Walt Disney Studios, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jon Turteltaub, the creators of the "National Treasure" franchise, present "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" -- an innovative and epic romantic comedy adventure about a sorcerer and his hapless apprentice who are swept into the center of an ancient conflict between good and evil.

Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina). Balthazar can't do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé. The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness. It'll take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."

EN 5 Second Review: Nick Cage is brilliant as always, this Harry Potter clone is better than you think, but not exactly Gone with the Wind either. Fun enough though.

Genre: Adventure, Animation, Comedy, Family
MPAA Rating: G

EN 5 Second Review: Pixar scores again. It is almost unfair how much better Pixar is tan any other animation studio. It's the writing that makes the difference as Woody and company manage to teach us all lessons of the heart while entertaining us.

Spotlighting some of our favorite DVD releases

"Release the Kraken!" Ah, it could only be Clash of the Titans, the 2010 remake that retains the instruction to unleash the great beastie from the sea. The 1981 original boasted Ray Harryhausen's legendary stop-motion technique of animating various mythological creatures--it was his final feature project--and given the cornball approach of the movie in general, that was the main draw. The remake supplies new state-of-the-art special effects (released in 3-D) and a nicely muscular sense of momentum. Sam Worthington (the Avatar guy) plays Perseus, a demigod who doesn't know that Zeus (Liam Neeson) is his father. Perseus is selected to lead an expedition to find and slay the Medusa, lest Zeus's evil brother Hades (Ralph Fiennes, in fine slinking mode) rain down misery upon a seaport--and you just know that means the Kraken is coming. Ye gods, it's a mess, and we haven't even mentioned the witches and the harpies and the giant scorpions. But if we did, it would be clear that Clash of the Titans is a perfectly dandy popcorn epic, unpretentious and punchy...more
