Spike TV’s Fantastic New Show To Catch A Contractor premieres March 9th with Adam Carolla

Catch a ContractorI just had a chance to watch the premier episode of To Catch A Contractor, Spike TV’s new series that premieres March 9th. The show follows Carolla, along with contractor Skip Bedell and his wife Allison Bedel as they help out homeowners who have been cheated by a contractor and left with an unfinished disaster. Skip is a contractor and his wife Allison is a private investigator who the show uses to find and set up these contractors. Time will tell, but episode one was surprisingly well done and fair to both the family and the contractor. The show gives the contractor a chance to go back and fix what they did wrong and as Carolla puts it, learn a lesson.

Carolla and the Bedells hunt down and confront unscrupulous builders, drag them back to their construction disasters, and make them finish the job right.  Carolla and his expert team share their knowledge and ingenuity with the builders – not only to deliver homeowners the job they paid for, but also to give these suspect contractors the opportunity to redeem themselves. In episode one it works extremely well.

Surprisingly, Carolla has not abandoned his passion for carpentry, a line of work the talk show host pursued before his time on “Love Line” and “Man Show.”  Even though he hosts the number one podcast in the US, his passion for construction work really comes through here and you can also tell he still really relates on a contractor level. He really does take it personally when contractors pass off their sub par work on average citizens and leave homeowners holding the bag. It should be interesting to see how this plays out over multiple episodes, but for one episode at least it plays very well.

We will see over the next eleven half-hour episodes of “Catch A Contractor” that debut starting Sunday, March 9 at 10PM ET/PT how well the show holds up, but for a first shot pilot we like what we see so far.
