Novel Pictures to screen ‘Stand by Me’ at Alamo

Alamo Drafthouse Omaha will play “Stand by Me” at 7 p.m. July 27 as part of its Novel Pictures series.

The monthly series — a partnership with Omaha Public Library — picks a movie based on a book. Following the screening, representatives with Alamo and the library prompt a discussion with patrons about the similarities and differences between book and movie.

The 1986 film directed by Rob Reiner is an adaptation of Stephen King’s novella, “The Body,” and follows four friends who head into the Oregon woods to find the rumored dead body of a boy who went missing.

The iconic coming-of-age film stars Corey Feldman, Jerry O’Connell, Kiefer Sutherland, River Phoenix and Wil Wheaton.
