5 new books you won’t want to miss this week, starting with Janet Evanovich

USA TODAY’s Jocelyn McClurg scopes out the hottest books on sale each week.

1. Hardcore Twenty-Four by Janet Evanovich (Putnam, fiction, on sale Nov. 14)

What it’s about: In the latest in a series, New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is dealing with headless corpses that start showing up around town — and an unruly boa constrictor.

The buzz: Evanovich’s Turbo Twenty-Three landed at No. 1 on USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list last fall.

2. Growing Up Fisher by Joely Fisher (William Morrow, non-fiction, on sale Nov. 14)

What it’s about: The actress looks back at her life as a daughter of Hollywood “royalty” — Eddie Fisher and Connie Stevens — and her career.

The buzz: Fisher writes about losing her sister, Carrie Fisher (they had the same father), and Carrie’s mom, Debbie Reynolds.

3. End Game by David Baldacci (Grand Central, fiction, on sale Nov. 14)

What it’s about: U.S. government operatives Will Robie and Jessica Reel are called in when their handler, known as Blue Man, disappears, only to uncover a larger threat.

The buzz: Baldacci already had a No. 1 best seller this year with April’s The Fix, part of the “Memory Man” series.

4. Artemis by Andy Weir (Crown, fiction, on sale Nov. 14)

What it’s about: On a city on the moon, twentysomething Jasmine “Jazz” Bashara is a small-time smuggler pulled into a conspiracy for control of Artemis itself.

The buzz: It’s an Indie Next pick of independent booksellers. “A cool and engaging book that is a worthy successor to The Martian,” says Raul Chapa of BookPeople in Austin.

5. Future Home of the Living God by Louise Erdrich (Harper, fiction, on sale Nov. 14)

What it’s about: Erdrich
