New Holland Summer Arts Association kicks off 39th season of Entertainment in the Park

Music soon will fill New Holland Community Park once again.

The New Holland Summer Arts Association is gearing up for the 39th season of its Entertainment in the Park series. This year’s programming kicks off Saturday with an art and craft show, with music starting on July 4 with a performance by the New Holland Band. Admission is free to all of the events.

Sue Noll, secretary and treasurer of the association, says the art and craft show is a fitting way to kick off the season.

“It’s just a good way to get everybody into the park,” Noll says.

Noll says variety is always the goal when selecting performers. This year, the lineup features five performers new to Entertainment in the Park: the New Individuals, Big Boy Brass, Caiso Steeldrum Band, Octagon Band and Mountain Ride.

The concerts are largely made possible by sponsorships by local individuals, businesses and organizations.

Attendees are asked to bring chairs and blankets. Picnic dinners are allowed, and there will be food vendors at each show.

In the event of rain, the concerts will be moved to the chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland.

New Holland Community Park is located at 400 E. Jackson St.

All programs run from 7-9 p.m., unless otherwise noted.

June 30: Art and craft show

More than 75 vendors will sell  handmade or repurposed goods, including jewelry, pottery, lawn ornaments and even beef jerky, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There’s no admission fee for attendees, but funds from vendor fees go toward the park’s maintenance.

July 4: New Holland Band and fireworks

The July 4 celebration is one of the most popular shows of the season, Noll says.

The New Holland Band’s mission is “Bringing music to life.” The community band was established in 1829 and has been a mainstay of the Summer Arts Association’s Independence Day celebration.
