An Ad for New Horror Movie ‘The Nun’ Was So Effing Scary That YouTube Had to Take It Down

Wherever she goes, darkness will follow. #TheNunMovie

One of the most anticipated horror movies of the year is almost here! The Nun, the fifth installment in The Conjuring movie series, is set to premiere next month, and of course the promos and trailers are all over the place. They’re scary, because the movie is scary! But one recent ad promoting the movie has seriously disturbed the YouTube-viewing masses. In fact, it was so HORRIFYING that YouTube was having none (nun!) of it. Zing! Look, you have to make jokes in the face of abject terror like this, OK?

The 6-second video begins with a black screen with the volume/sound emoji displayed at the center—basically a way to distract and convince you that your volume controls are broken. Except, psych, they’re not! So as you fumble with them and wait for the rest of the video to play, that’s when The Nun gets you. This jumpscare is really too much, so Twitter user @bbydvas decided to send a message to the public about it:

They tweeted, “WARNING! If you see an ad on youtube with the volume sign being turned down and nothing else, ITS A JUMPSCARE for the new NUN movie coming out. i advise you look away and/or turn down the volume if you have anxiety or just straight up hate jumpscares, pls rt to save a life
