Purvis’ Lacey Chabert on hometown love and being queen of Hallmark Christmas movies


Christmas may still be months away, but Hallmark Channel is ready, and so are we!

Ask Lacey Chabert about her childhood Christmas memories and her voice hits another gear.

“I remember sleeping in the same room with my siblings on Christmas Eve and waking up at 4 a.m.,” she says in a phone interview from Los Angeles. “We weren’t allowed to go look in the living room until we got our parents up. And at 4 a.m. they were like, ‘Go back to bed!!!’

“It’s indescribable to round that corner as a child and all the presents are there, the Christmas tree lights are on. Santa Claus ate the cookies we left him. It’s a very magical memory.”

Now Chabert is helping others create Christmas memories. The 36-year-old actress from Purvis has become known as the queen of Hallmark Christmas movies. And the cable channel’s Countdown to Christmas — non-stop holiday movies from late October through December — has become a tradition for many.

Chabert co-stars in a new one this year — “Pride, Prejudice and Mistletoe,’ which premieres Nov. 23 at 7 p.m.
