Spanish Fort creates entertainment district for new container park

SPANISH FORT, Ala. (WALA) – The Spanish Fort City Council voted to make its new container park an entertainment district.

Work is continuing on the park at Spanish Fort Town Center, adjacent to Bass Pro Shoppes. The new park will be home to eight new food and beverage vendors and will also host outdoor entertainment. The development is designed using retrofitted shipping containers for the businesses to operate out of.

The city had to declare it an entertainment district to allow customers to mingle throughout the park with alcohol purchased on-site. Spanish Fort Mayor Mike McMillan says the city’s already seeing a positive impact from the soon-to-open park.

“It brings people into the shopping center. That’s important. Because of what’s happening down there, we’ve got four or five new tenants lined up to start coming in down there so it’s a little snowball thing,” said McMillan

Weather permitting, the new entertainment district is set to open by December 3.
