Proposed Delaware County entertainment complex rebrands as Arcadia

Developers competing to build a 350-acre entertainment complex in Delaware County are now competing over what to call it.

While one of the potential developers, David Glimcher, says the project is moving forward under its first name, Planet Oasis, his competitors on Friday said the project will now be called Arcadia.

In a press release, the developers Blue Horseshoe Ventures and Tony Sekulovski said the name Arcadia was selected from among several hundred entries in a recent naming contest. The name was submitted by Westerville college student Ian Shaw, who received a $1,000 Visa gift card for his effort, according to the release.

Project spokesman Ryan Stubenrauch said Arcadia will be “the definitive sports and entertainment destination in Ohio.” Over the next few weeks, Sekulovski said, the developers “will be meeting with community leaders, residents and business leaders” to share new plans for the development, which was announced in June with an aggressive late 2018 start date.

Since the announcement, Sekulovski and Glimcher split. In November, Sekulovski and Blue Horseshoe filed a lawsuit against Glimcher in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas, seeking a declaratory judgment establishing Sekulovski as the owner of Blue Horseshoe and its projects.

Stubenrauch said the developers now anticipate starting construction next summer.

“Arcadia will continue to take shape in the following weeks with a new and improved design and renderings expected to be released to the public,” Stubenrauch said in a statement. “This winter, final preparations with designers, construction experts and traffic consultants are expected to be completed and submitted to government officials for approval.”

Glimcher, however, said he has also been advancing the project.

“The development is moving foward – as Planet Oasis,” Glimcher said Friday.
