Coming attractions: Our big guide to spring 2019 movies

Though the initial months of any year are notoriously regarded as a dumping ground for uninspired and troubled films, there’s a mix of blockbusters, comedies and independent fare to keep you heading back to the theater.

There’s hotly anticipated chillers (“Us” and “Pet Sematary”), ambitious animation (“Ruben Brandt, Collector”), and final chapters for some beloved characters (“A Madea Family Funeral” and “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World”) among ambitious stories.

Here’s a guide for this year’s upcoming movies spanning from February to late April, just before a summer of superheroes, space travelers and Disney nostalgia take over entirely.

Feb 22

“Fighting With My Family” (PG-13): A family of traveling professional wrestlers hold their own against competitors in the ring and each other in this biographical film based on the life of WWE superstar Paige.

“How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” (PG): The third installment in this DreamWorks animated franchise bows out with Hiccup and Toothless seeking out a dragon utopia and learning to let go.

“To Dust” (R): A Hasidic cantor (Geza Rohrig) grieving the loss of his wife becomes obsessed with how her body will decay and enlists a biology professor (Matthew Broderick) to engage in a blasphemous query so he can find peace.
