Entertainment complex near Lakepoint in Emerson adding 12-lane bowling alley

Bowlers in Bartow County and north Cobb could have their favorite sport available in a closer location by late summer.

Owners of an entertainment and dining complex adjacent to LakePoint Sporting Community near Emerson just north of the Cobb County line say they are planning the addition of a 12-lane bowling alley.

Completion is targeted for August. It will add to attractions within the complex, called Lakepoint Station, that already offers a 28-foot climbing wall and a 4,000-square-foot laser tag area, said General Manager Seth Curlee.

“As a longtime resident of this area, I have repeatedly heard the neighborhood requests for bowling,” Curlee said. “It was an easy decision for LakePoint Station to add bowling to our existing family fun options for the community.”

Bowling will provide another entertainment option at the two-year-old complex for attendees of events at the sports complex, which is not affiliated with Lakepoint Station, Curlee said.

It also will give the entertainment complex an option for customers who trend older than the typical patron of laser tag or electronic arcade games, Curlee said.

LakePoint Station opened in 2016 at 77 Old Allatoona Road, also known as Ga. Hwy. 293. It is adjacent to the 1,300-acre regional sports complex and was designed with a train station theme to capitalize off its close proximity to CSX railroad tracks.

The complex’s new bowling area will be attached to St. Angelo’s Pizza within the complex and replace an 18-hole miniature golf course, Curlee said.

It will give local bowlers a closer venue for the sport than Kennesaw or Woodstock. Curlee said the last bowling alley he recalled operating in Bartow County in Cartersville closed in the mid-2000s.

He said the bowling area will dedicate two of its 12 lanes to younger bowlers. They will be designed for mini-bowling and uses a lighter ball, he said.
