Davis High Hosts Concert To Help Paradise Schools Replace Music Gear Lost In Camp Fire

The smoke and heat from the massive Camp Fire ruined dozens of musical instruments used by students at Paradise schools, and also incinerated much of the printed sheet music that band director Bob Schofield had been collecting for 26 years.

Saturday’s Save the Music in Paradise concert at Davis Senior High School is a fundraiser designed to help replace what was lost.

Several dozen band students from Paradise — many of whom lost their homes in the fire and are now living in provisional housing in nearby Chico — will be performing in Davis, along with a dozen Yolo County ensembles, playing everything from mariachi tunes to ragtime to classical.

The concert is Saturday, March 16, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Richard Brunelle Performance Hall on the Davis Senior High School campus. Admission is free, donations accepted, with all proceeds going to the public school music program in Paradise.
