EXCLUSIVE: WB’s ‘Sherlock Holmes 3’ Expected To Take Place In Old West Era San Francisco

HN Entertainment has learned from a source that Sherlock Holmes 3’s setting is expected to be the Old West in the United States, specifically San Francisco, California. It would certainly take Holmes of out his European comfort zone and give production designers a little more variety with the setting.

Sherlock Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle did have a fascination with certain American figures and befriended them during his life. Some included his friend/magician Harry Houdini, who tragically died from complications due to a punch to the stomach he wasn’t expecting along with real-life American law enforcement agent William J. Burns, that Doyle dubbed the “American Sherlock Holmes”. Both could factor into the movie or inspire new characters, as Noomi Rapace’s fortune teller character in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows seemed to reflect Doyle’s own personal obsession with psychics and fortune tellers. I personally would be interested in seeing Sherlock’s American counterpart.

Our pals at GeekVibesNation/GeekVibesNews have also posted a potential production update concerning the third Sherlock Holmes movie that Warner Bros. has been trying to put together for years now. As the studio hopes to get filming started possibly by January of next year, this would make a lot of sense as director Guy Ritchie is about to do press rounds for Disney’s Aladdin and is expected to finish post-production/release Bush (formerly Toff Guys) later this year.

Jude Law has a sizable role in Captain Marvel and Robert Downey Jr. will be next seen in Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame coming out on April 26th along with Universal’s Voyage of Doctor Dolittle coming out on January 17th, 2020.
