Bruce Springsteen summer movies: Coming to a theater near you

“Asbury Park: Riot, Redemption, Rock ‘n’ Roll,” the Tom Jones-directed film about the unifying scene of the former Upstage Club in Asbury Park, will play in theaters across the United States and the world on May 22, and in U.S. theaters only on May 29.

The film, which will also be shown 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 28 at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park as part of the Asbury Park Music and Film Festival, will include a new interview with Springsteen, which was filmed in May of 2017 inside the former Upstage.

“Riot, Redemption, Rock ‘n’ Roll” also includes interviews with Steven Van Zandt, Southside Johnny Lyon, David Sancious, city locals. There’s also a performance by musicians from the Upstage, including Springsteen, along with students from the city’s Lakehouse Music Academy, filmed at the 2017 APMFF.
