Chelsea Handler Plots Return to Television, Talks Therapy, Anger and Not Dating Older Men

It has now been nearly a year and a half since Chelsea Handler had a regular gig on television, but the prolific talk show host may be plotting something completely different for her big return.

The fresh idea is inspired by her latest book, “Life Will Be the Death of Me,” which was in turn inspired by her recent foray into therapy. Admitting she was at first reluctant to fully embrace the process, Handler now says that therapy absolutely changed the direction of her life.

“I felt like I learned a lot about myself and was like, oh this makes a lot of sense,” she told Busy Philipps on “Busy Tonight” Tuesday. “And maybe this can explain why I’ve been such a bitch or felt like such a bitch or felt so angry for so long.”

Calling it a “great door-opener” for her, Handler said that her friends have noticed the difference, and it’s even impacted how she perceives dating. Fans of her E! talk show “Chelsea Lately” and Netflix talk show “Chelsea” know she’s always had a penchant for older men, but no longer.

“I’m dating now and I’m healthier now. I’m in my 40s now so I’m past the point of marrying the guy that I was gonna divorce,” Chelsea said to a big laugh. “So now I feel much more confident in my ability to make a healthy decision.”

That decision, and her own age, has kept her from being interested in older men. Instead, she said she’d like to maybe stay within five years of her age, or perhaps even go younger.
