‘The Hunt’ producer Jason Blum still wants to release controversial film Trump seemed to slam

Universal Pictures is canceling the release of “The Hunt” – a film that President Donald Trump seemingly criticized earlier this week.

“The Hunt” made waves earlier this month when Universal Pictures canceled the controversial film in the wake of recent mass shootings. But producer Jason Blum still thinks the movie could be released at some point.

The film, which was set for release in September, follows a group of wealthy elites who hunt people in rural America for sport, according to Rotten Tomatoes and The Hollywood Reporter. President Donald Trump seemingly criticized the movie just before it was shelved.

When asked in an interview with Vulture if there was a possibility the film could be released in the future, Blum said there was “definitely a chance. I hope so.”

Universal announced on Aug. 10 that it was officially scrapping “The Hunt” after already having “paused the marketing campaign.” The studio said it stood by its filmmakers but understood it wasn’t “the right time” to release the movie, just days after mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio.
