Repurposed vending machine allows Wyandotte students to earn free books for good behavior

Students at Washington Elementary School in Wyandotte now have a fun way of finding new books.

Unveiled Friday afternoon, the Inchy Bookworm Vending Machine is designed to boost readership among children.

After seeing a post on Facebook for the repurposed vending machines from Global Vending Group, fourth grade teacher Salena Harris said she thought it would be a great addition for her school. Soon after, she started the fundraising process.

“When we shared with parents what we were doing, we were able to get enough funding in October,” Harris said. “I thought it would take half the year.”
