Sabrina Carpenter Fends Off Billie Eilish For Another U.K. Singles Chart Crown

The U.K. singles chart race was something of a feast, as Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” (Island) beat Billie Eilish’s “Lunch” (Interscope) for the title.

With its latest crown, confirmed Friday, May 24, “Espresso” extends its streak to four weeks. Carpenter’s breakout hit is once more the most-streamed track in the U.K., with 8.3 million plays.

Eilish is crowned on the U.K. Albums Chart with Hit Me Hard And Soft (Interscope), which bows with the second-biggest tally of the year, behind only Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department.

Three tracks from Hit Me Hard And Soft impact the top 10 on the singles survey, led by “Lunch” at No. 2 – the top debut of the week. Album track “Chihiro” lands at No. 7 and “Birds Of A Feather” arrives at No. 9, together lifting Eilish’s all-time tally of U.K. top 10 singles to 12.

Completing the podium is Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” (via American Dogwood/Empire), returning to its peak of No. 3. “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” adds to a country-flavored top 10 that includes Post Malone and Morgan Wallen’s “I Had Some Help” (down 2-6 via Republic Records), and Dasha’s “Austin” (unchanged at No. 10 via Warner Records).

Among the new releases on the latest Official U.K. Singles Chart is Gunna’s “One of Wun” (300 Entertainment), new at No. 32 for the U.S. rapper’s seventh U.K. top 40 appearance.

Tems cracks the top 40 with “Love Me JeJe” (RCA/Since 93), rising 49-39 for the Nigeria-born Afrobeats star’s fourth U.K. top 40 hit.

Finally, U.S. metal veterans Disturbed return to the chart with their 2015 cover of the Simon and Garfunkel classic “The Sound of Silence” (Reprise), which bounces 47-39 following a viral dance remix by Cyril. Disturbed’s cover originally peaked at No. 29 in 2016, while Simon and Garfunkel’s original version was released in the 1964, and a remix featured in the 1967 film The Graduate, but never charted in the U.K.
