Barry Manilow Back On Stage After Cancelling London Palladium Farewell Show at Last Minute Under ‘Doctor’s Orders’

Barry Manilow was back on stage at the London Palladium on Tuesday night (May 28) after cancelling one of his farewell shows at the legendary venue on Monday on “doctor’s orders.” According to Metro UK, singer, 80, called off Monday night’s gig with just hours to go, writing on Instagram, “Unfortunately, under doctor’s orders, we must cancel tonight’s 27th May Barry Manilow concert.”

Metro reported that hundreds of disappointed fans were queued up outside the theater when the news was announced. Though upset, Fanilows spread the love to the “Mandy” singer in comments on the X post about the rescheduling, with one writing, “Good news, what a relief to know you’re feeling better (if the doctor is OK, I’m happy you can perform today). You can count on me tonight and for the 10 other concerts (evening & afternoon),” and another adding, “I’m so happy to hear you’re feeling better, Barry. Have a wonderful show with everyone tonight. I can’t wait to see you again on 2nd June. “Don’t have to look no more here I am, I’m your man. You’re what I’ve waited for here I am, I’m your man…” At press time Manilow had not shared what ailment caused the show postponement.

Manilow is in the middle of a nine-show residency run at the venue entitled The Last, Last UK Concerts; the series is slated to run through June 9. The setting is fitting because the London Palladium was where Manilow performed his first UK gigs in 1978.

Earlier, in announcing the Palladium run, Manilow explained, “In 1978, The London Palladium is where I began my love affair with the British public. These shows will be my last full concerts in Britain and I wanted to end where I began – at the London Palladium.”

Before Tuesday’s show, Manilow revealed that Monday’s scotched gig has been rescheduled for June 9 at 2:30 p.m.
