Taylor Swift has nothing to worry about when it comes to crooning competition from boyfriend Travis Kelce. While Swift is gearing up for a weekend of Eras Tour shows in Milan, Italy, Super Bowl champ Kelce was taking the stage at the American Century Championship charity golf tournament on Thursday (July 11), skipping the ESPY Awards to show off his vocal stylings in a karaoke competition.
While Kelce is a super sweet guy and sticky-hands legend, if you watch his hot mess performance of Whitesnake’s iconic 1982 hair metal ballad “Here I Go Again,” you can be sure that a solo album will not be part of his brand extension anytime soon.
Croaking out his vocals while backed by a live band, Kelce mostly got the lyrics right, though at one point he mumbled, “where the f–k are the words!?” as he emoted his way through the ballad before winding up to the shouted chorus.
It was good enough for gold, as Kelce won the competition, hopping up and down when his name was announced as if the meaningless hardware he earned was another Lombardi trophy. Pretending to cry, Kelce yelped, “Taylor, this is for you!” Kelce is a frequent guest at the all-star Lake Tahoe charity event, previously ripping through covers of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin‘” in 2019 and Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble’s “Pride and Joy” in 2022.
As usual, the Super Bowl-winning Kelce brothers both got their beaks wet, with retired NFL great Jason Kelce snagging the long drive competition trophy with a 322-yard corker. This weekend’s event will also feature the short-awaited showdown between DJ Khaled and Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon after the late night talker challenged the “We the Best” boss to a golf-off on his show this week. Earlier this week, Khaled visited Fallon to accept the offer and talk some serious smack. “Why can’t you just say Khaled is good?” he asked Fallon, reminding the host to bring his golf bag and a “big brown paper bag” filled with cash for when he loses.
