A$AP Rocky is still adjusting to life as a dad. Rocky and Rihanna welcomed baby No. 2, RZA’s little brother, Riot, in August 2023, and life has never been more different for the Harlem rapper.
Rocky — born Rakim Mayers — serves as the latest cover star for Billboard, which finds him touching on all things revolving around fatherhood, including how the animated nursery-rhyme children’s songs show Cocomelon has become a staple in their home.
But the repetitive jingles from the 3D animations have caught up to him. Just don’t tell the “Umbrella” singer he’s had enough of it. “That s–t is driving me nuts! Don’t tell my girl I said that,” he said with a laugh. “I’m totally joking, I don’t give a s–t. She’s tired of it, too, probably.”
The A$AP Mob frontman says things are going “great” with Rihanna as far as their relationship, and there isn’t a more “perfect” match for him since she’s understanding of how hectic their schedules can get as superstar multi-hyphenates.
“It’s crazy how we find balance with our chaotic schedules. [The relationship] is going great,” he said. “I don’t think there’s a more perfect person because when the schedules are hectic, she’s very understanding of that. And when the schedule’s freed up, that’s when you get to spend [the] most time together. It’s all understanding and compatibility.”
A$AP Rocky and Rihanna became first-time parents in May 2022 when she gave birth to their baby boy RZA Mayers, whose name is inspired by Wu Tang Clan’s RZA.
The 35-year-old is also gearing up to deliver his highly anticipated album Don’t Be Dumb, which serves as his first LP since 2018’s TESTING. He released his first single of the year with “Highjack” earlier in August. The black-and-white accompanying visual arrived on Wednesday (Aug. 21).
The project was slated to arrive on Aug. 30, but the album has been delayed until the fall.
