Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope is a film by Morgan Spurlock explores this amazing cultural phenomenon by following the lives of five attendees as they descend upon the ultimate geek mecca at San Diego Comic-Con 2010. Sound like a borefest if you are not a comic fan? It is most decidedly not as Spurlock manages to make a touching film that follows people in their pursuit of a passion. It really does not matter if you are into comics, passion is passion and that comes through in this wonderful movie. In fact the movie played just as well to my wife who has never read a comic as it did to me and I am a huge geek.
It features some one on one interviews with Comic-Con veterans who have turned their passions into professions include Stan Lee, Joss Whedon, Frank Miller, Kevin Smith, Matt Groening, Seth Rogen, Eli Roth and others throughout the film along with up close and up front coverage of all the panels, parades, photos, costumes, crowds and camaraderie that make up one of the largest fan gatherings in the U.S.
If you are a fan of heart felt, feel good stories you are going to love watching this weeks featured film. It’s available on DVD or is available to stream for Hulu Plus members.
