Former Palace Bowling Lanes to reopen as new entertainment destination

Palace Social, the family-friendly entertainment concept going into the iconic Palace Bowling Lanes, is set to open at 4191 Bellaire in June.

The “next-generation” reuse of the property as an eight-lane bowling alley, gaming arcade, sports lounge and restaurant was announced Tuesday. Palace Social is billed as a reincarnation of the much-beloved Palace Bowling lanes as a dining and entertainment concept that is part of the new mixed-use Southside Commons.

“We’re excited to welcome guests of all ages to Palace Social, drawing on the memories of the past with a new vision of what a neighborhood entertainment concept can be,” said Billy Forney, Palace Social CEO. “Our goal is to tap into the nostalgia that folks have for the former Palace Bowling Lanes with food, beverage, gaming, and entertainment offerings that resonate with today’s tastes. We fully intend for new memories to be made at Palace Social, which has been a true community-driven project.”

Palace Social’s food and beverage program is being coordinated by Jonathan Horowitz of Convive Hospitality Consulting with a menu from consulting chef Ryan Hildebrand who Houston diners know from his year helming Triniti restaurant and FM Kitchen Bar. Hildebrand has envisioned a menu of elevated, Southern-inspired comfort foods including salads, burgers and flatbread pizzas. The menu will be executed by chef Efrain Villareal; beverage director Jennifer Caldwell will oversee the cocktail menus (including beers and wine on tap) for the bar and lounge.
