Go outdoors this summer to enjoy the health benefits | Entertainment

The first official day of summer is June 20th, but people are already out and taking advantage of sunny days.

There is a lot of research and research to prove the benefits of spending time outside. Individuals who spend time outdoors in nature are less stressed, sleep better, and are more likely to exercise more often.

According to Get Outdoors PA and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, both adults and children who are physically active outdoors are benefiting. Exercising outdoors reduces the risk of chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. This activity also improves mobility, balance, overall health and more.

Below are some upcoming opportunities for people in the area to go outdoors and spend time on healthy activities.

June 12 Pottstown Farm

Location: Pottstown, 138 E. High St.Smith Family Plaza in

Details: Pottstown Farm and Artisan Regional Market is a pop-up opportunity to buy fresh produce and other products from local vendors. Vendors include Stoney Hill Farm, Rosedel Farm, and Moishes Pickles. Most vendors accept both cash and credit or debit cards. People can also take advantage of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits at farmers markets. The market is open every other Saturday from 9am to 1pm until October 30, 2021. June 12 Riverfront Park Yoga

Location: Pottstown Riverfront Park on 140 College Drive, Pottstown

Details: Yoga classes will be held in the park every Saturday from 8am to 4th September this summer. Weekly Samana Holistic Centers lead classes along the Schuylkill River. You can participate in all ability levels. Participants should be comfortable dressed, bring water and use insect repellent spray. The cost is $ 10 per class.
