See what movies are playing in Grand Rapids area parks this summer

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Movies in the park are returning this summer across Kent County.

Outdoor screenings will again take place this summer in Grandville, Grand Rapids and East Grand Rapids throughout the season.

Alcohol is not allowed at any of the events, and people are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for the viewings.

In Grand Rapids, Friends of Grand Rapids Parks has scheduled five free screenings, each at different city parks. The films start at 9 p.m., with yard games, music, dancing, entertainment and more beginning at 7 p.m.

  • Friday, June 18 — “Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse” at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 900 Fuller Ave. SE
  • Saturday, July 17 — “A League of Their Own” at Sullivan Field, 650 Valley Ave. NW
  • Saturday, July 31 — “Moana” at Roosevelt Park, 739 Van Raalte Drive SW
  • Saturday, Aug. 7 — “Raya and the Last Dragon” at Plaster Creek Park, 2401 Buchanan Ave. SW
  • Saturday, Aug. 21 — “Wonder Woman: 1984? at Highland Park, 700 College Ave. NE

East Grand Rapids is screening four movies this summer at John Collins Park, 650 Lakeside Drive SE. All movies will begin at dusk. Admission is free.

  • Friday, July 9 — “Moana”
  • Friday, July 16 — “Sing”
  • Friday, Aug. 20 — “Aladdin“ (2019)
  • Friday, Aug. 27 — “Raya and the Last Dragon”

In Grandville, two remaining movies are being screened at Wedgwood Park, 3391 Wilson Ave. SW. The movies begin at 9 p.m.

  • Friday, June 11 — “Aladdin” (2019)
  • Friday, Aug. 6 — “Mamma Mia” (During Vintage Fest)

Pre-purchased tickets are required for the Aladdin showing but not the Mamma Mia one. Tickets are $10 for a spot that fits up to six people and include a $5 food voucher to food vendors.
