Stop by any Chillicothe Ross County Public Library location and you’re likely to find any number of people looking for books, searching for just the right title for movie night, or maybe just quietly sitting and reading today’s Chillicothe Gazette. From children’s storytimes and Science Club events to cooking and book clubs for adults, the library is for everybody!
Most people know that the library provides much-needed resources and support to our community. But did you know that YOU can actually help support your library?
We are pleased to announce that the library is now part of the Chillicothe-Ross Community Foundation (CRCF). You can make a donation to The Library Fund for Ross County through the CRCF. This means that your money stays in Ross County, and your gift will help to support the library for years to come.
We are so grateful to Ross County for passing our library levy last year to support general operating expenses. While we currently have a fairly consistent budget (which includes state funds) for library materials, salaries and upkeep of our nine locations throughout the county, there are always plans in the works to make your library even better for you. We dream of new initiatives, programs, events, updated facilities, staff development opportunities and so much more.
So how can you help? Consider the library when planning your estate:
- Designate the Library Fund for Ross County as a beneficiary.
- A bequest can be a specific dollar amount, asset, or a percentage of your estate.
- Pay tribute to relatives, friends and others with a gift in their honor or memory. (All gifts are tax-deductible.)
Donations can be for specific materials, like accessibility equipment or audio books, or for general use to be determined by the administration. Donations in memory or in honor of someone are recognized with a bookplate bearing that individual’s name. The Scioto Valley Bird and Nature Club donates money each year for books to place on our shelves, dedicated in honor of their monthly meeting speakers. Larger gifts may be recognized with a naming opportunity or a memorial plaque. The Wade and Schaaf families donated an outdoor bench in memory of their parents to be placed at the Frankfort (Howard S. Young) Branch Library. Such sponsorships are just one source of additional support that allows the library to enhance the level, extend the range, or improve the quality of library services.
