Center for Public Television highlights Richard Scott’s beekeeping – WVUA23

If you’ve been watching WVUA 23 for awhile, you may know Chief Meteorologist Richard Scott moonlights (daylights?) as a beekeeper.

The Center for Public Television recently put together a mini-documentary highlighting his apiary, which you can watch above.

It all started because his fruit trees needed pollinators, he said.

“What we do here is we grow these bees to where they get large enough to self-sustain, and then I move them to one of our bee yards,” Scott said.

Every year when bees are moving around, Scott can be found anywhere around West Alabama collecting unwanted hives and moving them to one of his beekeeping locations.

This year, he collected more than 1,000 pounds of honey.

If you’re interested in following his beekeeping journey, he posts regularly on his Richard Scott YouTube channel.
