The Real Housewives of Potomac star Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, are speaking out through their rep after they were arrested and booked on fraud charges.

“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits. They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans and colleagues,” a representative for the couple told Us Weekly on Friday, October 10. “The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, a grand jury indicted both Wendy and Eddie on Thursday, October 9, for insurance fraud, conspiracy insurance fraud and making a false statement to a police officer.

The pair were booked in Westminster, Maryland, with bail set at $50,000. They were released on Friday.

According to police, both Wendy and Eddie claimed designer bags and jewelry were missing from their bedroom during a reported burglary in April 2024. Wendy, however, was allegedly seen wearing one of the stolen diamond rings in a later social media post.

A police investigation determined that other items they claimed were stolen had been purchased and returned to their respective stores “where a full refund was provided prior to the alleged burglary.”

Prosecutors alleged the couple claimed a $450,000 personal property loss via an insurance company. Us Weekly has reached out for comment.

Wendy joined The Real Housewives of Potomac at the beginning of season 5 in 2020. The political commentator and professor would often remind her costars that she holds four degrees.

According to her website, Wendy became the first Black woman to earn a PhD from Rutgers University in Public-Affairs Community Development.

When she wasn’t in the middle of drama with her costars, Wendy would showcase parts of her family life with Eddie and their three children.

In August, the couple celebrated 14 years of marriage with a tropical vacation away from Maryland.

“We did the work and prayerfully, God has done the rest,” Wendy wrote via Instagram on August 20 when marking the milestone. “We have built a life that will outlive us, and for that I am forever grateful. If given the opportunity, I would choose you in this lifetime and again in the next. I’m blessed to call you my best friend and honored to have your last name.”

Eddie added, “Happy Wedding Anniversary to my best friend, life partner, pro bono therapist, hype woman and everything in between. I couldn’t imagine doing this life without you and these past FOURTEEN years have been nothing short of a blessing.”

On October 5, The Real Housewives of Potomac kicked off season 10. During one of the opening scenes, Wendy joined her costars Gizelle Bryant, Ashley Darby, Stacey Rusch and Keiarna Stewart to discuss Karen Huger’s legal drama.

While Wendy acknowledged her fair share of conflict with Karen, 62, the Dr. Wendy Show host said she also had sympathy for her costar being sentenced to jail after being found guilty of DUI.

“For me, the worst part is that it was so instant. She was taken into custody right away,” Wendy explained. “How does she process that? Did she know? Was she prepared? For Karen, we may have our differences, but at the core of me, that was once my friend so I want the best for her.”
