Sia’s estranged husband, Dan Bernard, has asked a court to award him more than $250,000 per month in spousal support.
Us Weekly obtained court documents showing that Bernard has requested that Sia (full name Sia Kate Isobelle Furler) pay him $250,856 monthly, in addition to funding other legal expenses. (TMZ was the first to report the news.)
In terms of additional costs, Bernard called on his estranged wife to pay at least $300,000 towards his attorneys’ expenses, as well as $200,000 more to pay for a forensic accounting investigation.
Bernard claimed that he’d been out of work since April 1 after he “received a letter from Sia’s company providing me with notice that it would be terminating her funding” of their joint business, Modern Medicine.
Since that time, Bernard specified that he’d been getting by on “monthly payments from Sia by way of stipulated orders” before those expired as of October 1.

“I have no income, no real property, no retirement and very little funds in my bank account. I cannot maintain this litigation without a significant contribution by Sia toward my attorneys’ fees and forensic accounting fees. Sia has the greater ability to pay for both of our legal fees,” he wrote. “I therefore ask the Court to level the playing field and order Sia to contribute no less than $300,000 toward my attorney’s fees and costs and $200,000 toward my forensic accounting fees and costs.”
Us Weekly has reached out to Sia for comment.
Sia, 49, cited irreconcilable differences as the cause of the couple’s split when she filed for divorce in March after two years of marriage. The couple share an 18-month-old baby named Somersault Wonder, while Sia also has two sons she adopted as teens.
The “Cheap Thrills” singer requested legal and physical custody of their child in March, though she was open to Bernard having visitation rights. She specifically asked the court to terminate a spousal support option for her estranged husband.
Sia and Bernard were married at fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s villa in Portofino, Italy, in May 2023. Despite their glitzy wedding, the couple otherwise shunned the spotlight, as it only came to light that they’d welcomed a baby when Sia filed for divorce.
The nine-time Grammy Award nominee was subsequently spotted holding hands with Too Hot to Handle and Perfect Match reality star Harry Jowsey after a meal at Ca Del Sole in Los Angeles in July. A source exclusively clarified to Us that Sia and Jowsey, 28, are “just friends” despite social media speculation that they were potentially dating.
“[They] bonded over both being from Australia and are just being supportive friends of one another,” an insider told Us at the time.
Us learned that there was “some playful and flirtatious energy between them” between the two, though it had been “all lighthearted” thus far.

“[Sia] made it clear she has a little crush,” a second insider confirmed. “She thinks he’s funny and good-looking. They enjoy joking around with each other, but it’s not anything serious.”
While Sia has remained tight-lipped about her split from Bernard, she did open up in October 2023 about how her 2016 divorce from her first husband, documentary filmmaker Erik Anders Lang, “really threw [her] for a loop.” (Sia and Anders were married between 2014 and 2016.)
“That was such a dark time that I was in bed for three years, really, really severely depressed,” Sia explained in an interview on Apple Music 1 with Zane Lowe. “And so I couldn’t really do anything for that period of time.”
Sia even stopped writing music for a time following her divorce, though she ultimately credited writing “little bits and pieces here and there” for her 2021 studio album, Music, with helping her “get out of bed.”
“Then finally it just turned out we had enough songs to make an album, enough good ones,” she recalled. “So I just rely on my management to tell me when we’ve got enough good ones because … I think I can tell [when one is great], but they tell me when we’ve got 11 or 12 or 13 enough real good ones.”
