Chris Evans and his wife, Alba Baptista, have a precious new reason to smile.
The Marvel star and Borderline actress welcomed their first child together — and now fans are learning the sweet name the couple chose for their bundle of joy: a baby girl.
“They’re enjoying their privacy and these special first few days as a family with their baby,” a source told People about the lovebirds after the arrival of their daughter on Friday, October 24, revealing they opted for the name Alma Grace Baptista Evans.
She’s taking both of her parents last names, TMZ reported on Tuesday, October 28, revealing that Alma Grace made her debut into the world on Friday at 1:27 p.m.

The name Alma is of Hebrew, Latin origin and means “nurturing, soul; young woman; apple,” according to Nameberry.com, which notes the moniker has “subtle, international flair and plenty of vintage charm.”

As for the name Grace, it’s of Latin origin, per the website. “Grace, a simple and pure virtue name which originally referred to divine grace, is a fashionable classic.”
Grace also comes from the word grâtia and means “favor” or “blessing,” per The Bump.

The couple exchanged their vows during an intimate at-home ceremony on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Evans and Baptista made sure it was a private event, as an insider told Page Six their nuptials were “locked down tight,” with guests being asked to sign NDAs.
Evans’ Marvel costars were on hand for the special occasion, including Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Jeremy Renner.
The pair later said “I do” a second time in Portugal so Baptista’s family could attend.
“There is going to be a second gathering in Portugal for members of Alba’s family who couldn’t be in Massachusetts,” a source told the outlet. “Sometime this week, I believe. Then they’ll depart from Portugal for their honeymoon.”

Evans, who was named as People’s 2022 Sexiest Man Alive, revealed that he always dreamed of having a brood of his own.
“That’s absolutely something I want: wife, kids, building a family,” Evans said at the time, revealing that he was proud of his accomplishments and loved his craft — yet knew that having children would bring him the ultimate fulfillment.

The proud parents were first romantically linked in 2021 when she followed the Captain America star and several of his family members on Instagram. Fans were convinced they were an item the following year, when Evans and Baptista were photographed holding hands in Manhattan.
They became Instagram official in January 2023, and he revealed in June that he popped the question in her native language.
“I proposed to my wife in Portuguese,” Evans told The Knot. “She’s Portuguese, so I learned how to say, ‘Will you marry me?’ in Portuguese. I had practiced it all week. I had practiced it so much that while I’d be making breakfast and you almost just start saying it out loud.”
