Inside Kristin Cavallari’s Nashville Date With a Utah Sports Star

Kristin Cavallari went on a date with Utah Jazz head coach Will Hardy earlier this year, Us Weekly can confirm.

Hardy, 37, came out to Nashville to “see” Cavallari, 38, “many months ago,” a source exclusively tells Us.

The pair, however, ultimately didn’t form a love connection. “It was one date and that was it,” the insider explains of the outing. “She never saw him again.”

Last month, Cavallari opened up about getting back into the dating scene and how she was set up with a mystery sports figure.

“I literally said to the universe, ‘I’m ready to go on a date,’” The Hills alum said during an October episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast. “The next day, I got a phone call from my agent who set me up with a coach, which is also funny because [matchmaker] Patti Stanger came on my podcast and said, ‘You should go out with coaches.’”

While Cavallari did not reveal her date’s identity, she teased that “he’s a big deal” — even though she didn’t know who he was at first.

“He is represented by CAA. So am I. Our two agents made it happen,” she explained. “He flew to Nashville, took me to dinner, such a great guy.”

Cavallari added that while she had a nice time, she knew that her and they weren’t a perfect match.

“I know after the first date if I’m going to like someone or not,” Cavallari reflected. “I was trying to make it work, and I kept talking to him, and I was going to see him again and everything in me was telling me not to. When I’m out of alignment for what is meant for me, everything in my body screams at me. He is such a good guy. I enjoyed talking to him. … It just wasn’t right.”

Cavallari’s date with Hardy came after the Laguna Beach alum decided to put a pause on her love life this year and prioritize her work instead.

“I was intentional about it because leading up to the podcast tour, I didn’t want any distractions,” she explained in October. “Then, honestly, it was just kind of nice and I was just in a mode of wanting to be alone and focus on work and kids.”

This isn’t the first time the reality star has been linked to a sports star.

Last December she revealed she was dating a retired athlete who’s “such a good guy” and “checks all the boxes” for her, and in April confessed who the mystery man was on her podcast — former NHL player Nate Thompson, calling it “the most honest, pure, amazing, quote-unquote relationship I’ve ever had.”

“He’s a dad. He’s someone who has done a lot of work on himself, and we really connected on such a deep level. Honestly, one of the deeper relationships I’ve had, especially in such a short amount of time.”

“We didn’t hold back anything. We told each other f—ing everything,” she continued, clarifying she “wouldn’t consider him a boyfriend.”

The long distance didn’t help before things ended between them earlier this year: “It wasn’t like we didn’t have fun, and I was attracted to him. Like, all the pieces were there… I just didn’t wanna be in a relationship,” she said.

Cavallari also shares sons Camden, 13, and Jaxon, 11, and daughter Saylor, 9, with ex-husband former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, whom she was married to from 2013 to 2022. Cavallari was last linked to Special Forces contestant and TikToker Mark Estes for seven months in 2024.

On top of focusing on her family, Cavallari has been busy with the upcoming Laguna Beach reunion, which will drop next year. She traveled to Orange County, California, last month to film the special with Lauren Conrad, Stephen Colletti and additional high school classmates.

While Cavallari’s dating life has not been a main focus this past year, she shared her excitement to see where things go from here on out.

“I don’t know the last time I talked about my dating life. Probably because my dating life was nonexistent this whole year until recently, and now it’s really picked back up,” she reflected on her podcast. “And I’m really excited about it.”
