Sheriff Reacts to Theories Nancy Guthrie’s Family Could Be Involved in Case

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is addressing theories that one of Nancy Guthrie’s family members could be involved in her disappearance.

“The family has been fully, 100 percent completely, whatever we asked for, they’ve done,” Nanos shared with Fox News reporter Matt Finn on Friday, February 13. “It was getting crazy out there with allegations about the family.”

Guthrie was last seen alive in Tucson, Arizona, on January 30 after enjoying dinner with family members. Police later confirmed a 911 call was made on February 1 after the 84-year-old didn’t meet up with friends to watch a church service virtually.

Authorities have not identified a person of interest or suspect in Guthrie’s disappearance. They also have not officially ruled anyone out.

“You can’t accuse people of a horrific crime like that,” Nanos told Fox, “and not have any facts behind it.”

In his latest interview, Nanos said he has talked and texted with Nancy’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie. He also confirmed that the whole family has his number.

The FBI and local law enforcement continue to ask for the public’s help in locating a potential suspect associated with Nancy’s kidnapping.

Earlier this week, FBI Director Kash Patel shared surveillance photos taken on Nancy’s porch the night of her disappearance. The images appear to show a person wearing a ski mask and attempting to cover a camera on the property.

The suspect is described by authorities as a “male, approximately 5’9” – 5’10” tall, with an average build. In the video, he is wearing a black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack.”

A reward of up to $100,000 is currently being offered for information leading to the location of Nancy and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

Ever since Nancy vanished, Savannah, 54, and her siblings, Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, have asked for the public’s help in locating their mom and bringing her home.

In an Instagram video posted on February 4, both Savannah and Annie shared a personal message to their mom.

“Mommy, if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman. You are God’s precious daughter, Nancy,” Savannah said. “We believe and know that even in this valley, He is with you. Everyone is looking for you, Mommy, everywhere. We will not rest.”

Annie added, “Nancy is our mother, we are her children. She is our beacon. She holds fast to joy and all of life’s circumstances. She chooses joy day after day despite having already passed through great trials of pain and grief. We are always going to be merely human. Just normal human people who need our mom. Mama, if you’re listening, we need you to come home. We miss you.”

Earlier this week, reports surfaced that police are blocking the FBI from accessing key evidence in the search for Nancy. In an interview with NBC Tucson affiliate KVOA on Thursday, February 12, Nanos said the allegations were “not even close to the truth.”

The sheriff also reiterated his commitment to the case and finding answers.
