Former Fifth Harmony Members Today: Solo Careers, Reality TV and More

Like a certain 2010s boy band, Fifth Harmony was formed on a reality competition series — and like that group, they’ve stayed busy in the years after their hiatus.

Fifth Harmony‘s story began in 2012, when all five of its members — Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Normani, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui — auditioned for the U.S. edition of The X Factor as solo contestants. They didn’t progress on their own, but judges Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid and Britney Spears brought them back to form a girl group.

After initially calling themselves Lylas and 1432, they settled on the name Fifth Harmony after a public vote. They finished in third place during the December 2012 season finale, and one month later, Cowell signed them to his record label, Syco Music.

The band’s debut album, Reflection, hit stores in January 2015, and they quickly became one of the biggest acts in pop music. Drama began the following year, however, when Cabello announced in December 2016 that she was leaving the group.

The remaining four members claimed that they were blindsided by her decision, later confirming in March 2018 that Fifth Harmony would go on an indefinite hiatus while they pursued solo projects. While fans were devastated, the women delivered on their promise, and all four of them have since released their own singles.

Normani
The Georgia native released her first solo single, “Love Lies” with Khalid, in 2018. The following year, she debuted “Motivation,” and in 2020, she collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion for the Birds of Prey soundtrack. In 2021, she teamed up with Cardi B for “Wild Side,” which the duo performed at the MTV VMAs that year. A release date for her debut solo album has not yet been announced.
Normani competed on season 24 of Dancing With the Stars in 2017, finishing in third place. She has also appeared as a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Legendary and That’s My Jam, and has modeled in several of Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty fashion shows.
After years of teasing fans, Normani announced the release of her debut solo album, Dopamine, with a June 2024 release date.
In March 2025, Normani got engaged to football player DK Metcalf after three years of dating.

The “Tequila” songstress competed on season 28 of DWTS in 2019, finishing in third place. In October 2020, she released a memoir titled Finding Your Harmony.

Dinah Jane
After dropping the singles “Boom Boom” and “Bottled Up” in 2017 and 2018, respectively, the California native released her debut EP, Dinah Jane 1, in April 2019. She was scheduled to embark on her first solo headlining tour in 2020, but it was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. The “Missed a Spot” songstress has appeared on Wild ‘n Out and in the Netflix film The After Party.

Lauren Jauregui
Before Fifth Harmony went on hiatus, Jauregui collaborated with Halsey on “Strangers.” The Miami-born singer later released the solo singles “Expectations” and “More Than That.” Like Normani, she contributed to the Birds of Prey soundtrack with the track “Invisible Chains.” Jauregui’s debut EP, Prelude, hit stores in November 2021. That same year, she appeared in the HBO series A Tiny Audience.

Camila Cabello
Since leaving Fifth Harmony in 2016, Cabello has released three solo albums: 2018’s Camila, 2019’s Romance and 2022’s Familia. After opening for Taylor Swift on her Reputation tour in 2018, the “Havana” songtress embarked on her first solo headlining tour later that year. She’s also racked up three Grammy nominations and won four VMAs, including for her “Señorita” collaboration with Shawn Mendes. In 2021, she played the titular character in Amazon’s adaptation of Cinderella, which also starred Billy Porter, Idina Menzel, Minnie Driver and Pierce Brosnan.
Cabello began dating Mendes in 2019 after years of friendship. The duo confirmed their split in November 2021. After briefly rekindling their relationship in early 2023, Cabello and Mendes called it quits that June.
