Taylor Swift Denies Mentioning Her Engagement at Selena Gomez’s Wedding

Taylor Swift is setting the record straight after a rumor spread claiming she mentioned her own engagement to Travis Kelce during her speech at Selena Gomez‘s wedding.

During the Monday, October 6, episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Swift, 35, was asked about the claims that she made a joke at Gomez’s nuptials about the bride beating her to the altar.

“No. I did make a speech, but I actually made a point not to mention anything about my engagement,” Swift, who announced her engagement to Kelce, 36, in August, explained. “No one wants you to be like, ‘Hey, I know this is your wedding day but … ‘ I was like, ‘Don’t mention it.’”

Swift joked about hiding her ring, adding, “Let me turn it around.” While reflecting on Gomez’s special day, Swift gushed about getting to be there for her best friend.

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez’s Sweetest Friendship Moments Over the Years

“I got to see her be the most elegant, gorgeous — not only bride but just — vision that I’ve ever seen in my life,” the singer noted. “I’ve never seen anything so beautiful as her on her wedding day.”

Gomez, 33, and Blanco, 37, tied the knot in September nearly two years after confirming their relationship. After keeping their romance out of the public eye for several months, Gomez surprised fans in December 2023 when she announced that she was dating Blanco.

“He is my absolute everything in my heart,” she wrote in an Instagram comment at the time. “He [has] been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. The end. … He’s still better than anyone I’ve been with. Facts.”

Gomez later confirmed that she had been dating the music producer for “six months” after they collaborated on several of her songs, including “Same Old Love” and “I Can’t Get Enough.” They continued to work together after they started dating, and in December 2024, Gomez announced their engagement.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s Relationship Timeline

Before releasing their joint album, I Said I Love You First, in March, Gomez and Blanco reflected on their relationship milestones.

“It was really simple. We got in the studio to work on a song and we just talked; that’s how easy it was for me. I liked him before he liked me,” Gomez recalled in an Interview magazine profile published in February.

Although Blanco didn’t initially realize Gomez’s feelings for him, once he figured it out, he was confident in their connection.

“From then on, it was easy. You know when you think you met the right person, you’re like, ‘Oh, my God.’ But it feels so different. The second we started hanging out, I was like, ‘This is my wife.’ I was telling my mom, ‘This is the girl I’m going to marry,’” he shared at the time. “She’s my best friend.”
