Aaron Phypers took the stand to defend himself against his estranged wife Denise Richards’ allegations of abuse — claiming he never touched her and that she caused her own black eye, Us Weekly can report.

On Wednesday, October 8, Phypers, 53, was questioned about Richards’ claims that he was physically abusive throughout their six-year marriage.

Phypers denied the accusations that he got physical with Richards, 54, in early 2022. His cousin, Dr. Kathleen McAllister, testified that she saw Phypers hit Richards at his wellness center. McAllister, claimed Richards had a black eye from the assault.

In court, Phypers said he did not strike Richards in the eye, “Absolutely not.” Phypers said McAllister was present on the day in question. He said Richards had been drinking and told him she ran into a pole.

Phypers also denied grabbing her hair and choking her during another incident. When asked if he banged her head, “No, I did not.”

During questioning, Phypers said Denise often visited him at his wellness center in Malibu, which has since closed.

“Several days a week. She used it for Zoom and other various things,” he said. “She came in quite a bit.”

The judge stopped Phypers from answering questions about alleged substances he saw Richards use. The court found the question “irrelevant.”

Phypers denied claims brought by Richards’ makeup artist Pamela Brogardi in court. Brogardi claimed she heard Phypers threaten Richards.

Phypers was asked about claims Richards made in her petition for a restraining order. He denied threatening to break Richards’ legs. He told the court, “No. Absolutely not.”

When asked if he ever threatened to kill Richards, Phypers said, “No. Never.” He also denied calling her a “whore” to her face on July 4.

“I never called her that. It’s not true,” he said. Phypers also denied her claim that he knocked her hat off at her townhouse during an argument.

Richards’ estranged husband furher scoffed at claims he stole her laptop. He admits taking photos of things he found on her laptop, including alleged messages with another man.

Phypers said the messages he found were “very hurtful and shocking” but denied waking her up to yell. He said he did confront her but did not berate her as she claims.

He said, “I’ve never called her a bitch … I’ve called her a liar yes, but a bitch no.”

He also said he did not hit Richards on her head in the bathroom when she recovered from surgery in May.

Phypers told the court he did not cause Richards to suffer any concussions nor did he own any guns. (Richards claimed he owned eight guns). He denied owning bulletproof vests. Phypers said they are “workout vests that are weighted.”

On the stand, Phypers also said he did not threaten to kill Richards at any time in their relationship and never threatened to take his own life.

The judge has yet to rule on whether Richards’ will be granted a permanent restraining order.

As Us previously reported, Richards was granted a temporary restraining order against Phypers on July 16, days after he filed divorce papers.

In her petition, Richards alleged, “Aaron would frequently violently choke me, violently squeeze my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently slap me in my face and head, aggressively slam my head into the bathroom towel rack, threaten to kill me, hold me down with his knee on my back to the point where I would have to plead with him to get off me so that he would not kill me and hack into my laptop and phone and download all of my text messages.”

Phypers adamantly denied all allegations of abuse and claimed Richards was the one who caused problems during the marriage.

Phypers previously told Us, “These accusations are completely false and deeply hurtful. Denise and I, like many couples, have faced our share of challenges, but any suggestion of abuse is categorically untrue. I have always tried to approach our marriage with love, patience, and respect. I ask for privacy as we navigate personal matters, and I hope that the public and media will refrain from spreading harmful and baseless claims.”
