Liam Hemsworth Waited for the ‘Right Moment’ to Propose to Gabriella Brooks

Liam Hemsworth is sharing details of how he popped the question to longtime love Gabriella Brooks.

The Australian actor, 35, and model, 29, announced their engagement in a sweet Instagram post shared by Brooks back in September.

During an appearance on the Tuesday, October 28, episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Hemsworth said he wanted to make sure the timing was right amid his busy schedule shooting season 4 of Netflix’s The Witcher. (Hemsworth replaces Henry Cavill as lead character Geralt of Rivia in the upcoming season.)

“We got engaged a few months ago whilst I was still shooting The Witcher,” Hemsworth told host Jimmy Fallon. “I’ve been shooting The Witcher now for the last two years. I didn’t have a huge plan behind the engagement. I mean, I had enough of a plan to have bought the ring, but I was sort of just waiting for the right moment.”

Fallon asked the actor, “Did you find the right moment?”

“I think so. Um, she said yes,” the Isn’t It Romantic actor quipped.

Because of Hemsworth’s intense shooting schedule on The Witcher, the couple had to wait a while to celebrate their engagement with a getaway.

“It was a few months back, and then I just finished shooting The Witcher about three weeks ago, and then we went to the Maldives,” Hemsworth said.

The Hunger Games star also gave a rare insight into his relationship with Brooks during an appearance on the Today show on Monday, October 27.

“I’m incredibly excited. I did it a few months ago,” Hemsworth said of his proposal. “We’re super excited. It’s a happy time in my life.”

In September, Brooks shared a series of Instagram photos, showing off her stunning engagement ring.

The couple were first linked in December 2019, but have largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight.

In a December 2021 interview with Stellar magazine, Brooks made rare comments about their romance.

“My personal relationship is very, very important and very sacred to me,” she said at the time. “And I feel like in an industry where so much is put out on show, there are some things you just want to keep to yourself. I completely understand [the interest in our relationship]. But at the end of the day, I guess I just like having that for me.”

Brooks also weighed in on Hemsworth’s family, including his famous brother, Chris Hemsworth.

“They are great,” she said. “They are the most beautiful people and I’m very lucky to know them.”

Hemsworth was previously married to actress and singer Miley Cyrus for eight months, from December 2018 to August 2019. The exes had an on and off relationship for the better part of a decade after meeting on the set of 2010’s The Last Song. Hemsworth and Cyrus finalized their divorce in January 2020.
