Eddie Murphy’s daughter Bria Murphy and her husband Michael Xavier revealed in November 2025 that they are expecting their first baby.
Bria — the Hollywood legend and his ex-wife Nicole Murphy’s eldest daughter — tied the knot with Wild Cards actor Xavier in a lavish Beverly Hills wedding in 2022, after announcing their engagement the previous year.
(Eddie is the father of nine other children: he shares son Eric, 36, with ex-girlfriend Paulette McNeely, as well as son Christian, 34, with Tamara Hood. He shares Bria, Myles, 33, Shayne, 31, Zola, 25 and Bella, 23, with ex-wife Nicole Murphy, and welcomed daughter Angel Iris, 18, with former Spice Girl Melanie Brown. Eddie and current wife Paige Butcher are parents to daughter Izzy Oona, 9, and son Max Charles, 6.)
“[Marriage] is joyful, it’s a lot of fun,” Xavier told the “Ray Presents” podcast in 2022. “It’s a really cool new phase of my life that I’ve been relishing in.”

Xavier and L.A. art gallery owner Bria surprised their social media followers in December 2021 by revealing that they were engaged.
On her now-deleted Instagram account, Bria wrote to Xavier: “My heart, my best friend, my forever. I love you, always.”
“Forever my love,” Xavier replied on his own now-deleted Instagram.

Us Weekly reported in July 2022 that the couple had exchanged vows in a Beverly Hills wedding attended by Bria’s parents, Eddie and his ex-wife Nicole Murphy.
(Eddie and Nicole were married from 1993 to 2006. He later had relationships with film producer Tracey Edmonds and Melanie Brown, before marrying Australian model Paige Butcher in 2024.)
The newlyweds shared photos of Eddie walking Bria down the aisle, as she wore an off-the-shoulder, white lace gown designed by Netta BenShabu. Xavier was dressed in a Knot Standard tuxedo styled by Dion Lattimore.

Later that year, Xavier opened up to “Ray Presents” about the way his priorities had completely shifted since getting married.
“Married life changes you,” he said. “Before you commit to somebody on that level, you’re pretty much … looking out for you. Then, when you come together, you’ve got to watch this other person’s back.”

People reported in November 2025 that Bria and Xavier are expecting their first baby. Bria debuted her baby bump on the red carpet of her father’s documentary Being Eddie in L.A.
It was a joyous occasion for the Murphy clan as they not only celebrated Bria’s pregnancy and Eddie’s documentary, but it was also a rare chance for a family reunion. Bria was joined at the premiere by her brothers Eric, Christian and Myles, as well as her sisters Shayne, Bella and Zola.
Prior to Bria’s pregnancy, Xavier hinted that he and his wife were very excited to start a family.
“You get wins together,” he told the “Ray Presents” podcast in 2022. “In time, a family grows and you have other people you look out for.”

Xavier — who was born in Ottawa, Canada — got his start as an actor by working on Canadian TV before carving out a niche with roles in Christmas movies. (He has starred in seven holiday-themed projects throughout his career.)
Since 2024, Xavier has had a recurring role as Detective Simmons on The CW and CBC’s police procedural series Wild Cards. Former Grey’s Anatomy star Giacomo Gianniotti leads Wild Cards as Cole Ellis, a down-on-his-luck marine detective who works with seasoned conwoman Max Mitchell (Riverdale’s Vanessa Morgan) to solve crimes in order to get his career back on track.
Xavier told LRM Online that he was immediately interested in Wild Cards because the pilot script was “snappy, funny and cool.”
Wild Cards was renewed through a third and fourth season in May 2025. Aside from The CW’s law enforcement drama, Xavier also starred in science fiction series The Expanse and Freeform comedy-drama The Bold Type.

Bria and Xavier cameoed in Murphy’s long-awaited sequel Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, released via Netflix in July 2024. Bria plays a police officer who Eddie’s character Axel Foley dismisses as a “LEGO cop” for trying to arrest him, while Xavier portrays another officer who uses a taser on Foley during a confrontation.
Eddie revealed on CBS Mornings in 2024 that his daughter and son-in-law’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F scenes were shot during a very special time for their family.
“[Bria and Xavier] had just gotten married a couple of weeks before,” Eddie told host Gayle King. “She’s the one who arrests me in one scene, he’s the one who tases me!”
Eddie remembered that Xavier was reluctant to follow director Mark Molloy’s instructions when he was asked to be “rougher” with his real-life father-in-law.
“[Xavier] was like, ‘Hey, I just married his daughter a couple of weeks ago. This is not gonna get too rough,’” Eddie remembered.
