Lauren Boebert Asks Why Capitol Hill Is ‘Horny’ Amid Misconduct Allegations

Rep. Lauren Boebert is weighing in on the allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently taken over Congress.

“Go to church, find Jesus,” Boebert (R-Colorado), 39, told reporters near the steps of Capitol Hill, as seen in a video shared by Nexstar D.C. correspondent Vinay Simlot via X on Thursday, April 16.

Before walking away, Boebert added, “Like, I mean, why is everybody so horny here?”

The politician’s comments come after two Congressmen — Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-California) and Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) — resigned this week amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

Swalwell, 45, was accused of sexual abuse by a former staffer earlier this month. The woman, who was 21 when she was hired, claimed to the San Francisco Chronicle that Swalwell attempted to pursue a relationship with her when she was working at his district office in Castro Valley, California, in 2019. She alleged that Swalwell sent her images of his genitals via Snapchat and requested nude photos in return. The woman also accused the Iowa native of rape.

Other women have since come forward with additional allegations, including Ally Sammarco, who claimed that Swalwell sent her “inappropriate” messages on Snapchat.

Swalwell denied the allegations on Friday, April 10.

“These allegations are false and come on the eve of an election against the frontrunner for governor,” he wrote in a statement to the San Francisco Chronicle. “For nearly 20 years, I have served the public — as a prosecutor and a congressman and have always protected women.”

Swalwell later announced his resignation from Congress on Monday, April 13, apologizing to his family, staff and constituents for “mistakes in judgement I’ve made in my past.”

“I will fight the serious, false allegation made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make,” he added.

Meanwhile, Gonzales, 45, was accused of having an affair with former staffer Regina Ann Santos-Aviles, who died by suicide in September 2025. (Tony is married to wife Angel Gonzales, while Santos-Aviles was married to Adrian Aviles. The pair separated before her death.)

Though Tony first denied the affair claims, he later admitted to his relationship with Santos-Aviles after her death.

“I made a mistake, and I had a lapse in judgment, and there was a lack of faith, and I take full responsibility for those actions,” he tols radio host Joe Pags in March. “Since then, I’ve reconciled with my wife, Angel. I’ve asked God to forgive me, which he has, and my faith is as strong as ever.”

Tony also announced his resignation from Congress on Monday.

“There is a season for everything and God has a plan for us all. When Congress returns tomorrow, I will file my retirement from office,” he wrote via X. “It has been my privilege to serve the great people of Texas.”
