Influencer Leah Jay Ramsey has announced the death of her daughter after undergoing open heart surgery while pregnant.
“Our daughter. Rowe 🕊️,” Leah wrote in a joint Friday, June 12, Instagram post with husband Michael Ramsey. “The strongest little girl we will never get to know. You made it through infections and multiple surgeries, even when the odds were against you. But it just wasn’t your time.”
The couple concluded, “We are absolutely devastated. Rest peacefully. Love always, Mum, Dad and your big brother Reeves.”
Alongside the message, Leah and Michael shared a black-and-white photo holding daughter Rowe on a hospital bed.

Leah and Michael announced in January that they were expecting their second child in July. At the time, the couple uploaded a photo of Michael looking down at Leah’s growing stomach. “The sequel #julybaby,” the twosome captioned the Instagram post.
Days later, Leah shared that she had been hospitalized while dealing with a health battle.
“The last few weeks have been the scariest and most eye-opening of my life,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “What started as a swollen, painful leg turned into emergency surgery to remove a blood clot. From there, doctors discovered an infection in my heart that may have been sitting in my body for close to a year — quietly causing inflammation, sickness, and eventually sending a clot down into my leg.”
She continued, “Suddenly everything makes sense. The repeated infections. The cellulitis. The swollen limbs. The intense pain. The exhaustion. The night sweats. The nausea I blamed on pregnancy. The feeling that my body was constantly fighting something.”

While Leah shared that she “kept thinking it was just bad luck, pregnancy symptoms, or that [she] needed to push through it,” the influencer realized her body “was trying to tell me something much bigger.”
“Tomorrow, I’ll have further imaging on my heart so the doctors can decide the best treatment path — whether that’s long-term antibiotics or surgery to remove the infection,” she wrote. “This has been terrifying, but also clarifying. I’m grateful to finally have answers. Grateful for incredible doctors. And grateful that this was caught before something even worse happened. Side note; I’m terrified to know what the hospital bill is going to be 😵💫.”
In February, Leah updated her followers that she underwent open heart surgery after learning that she had “strep in my blood.”
“Infectious Disease confirmed the blood infection. Cardiac surgery found a vegetation growing on my heart valve. High-risk OB monitored baby through it all. I was put to sleep three times, had two major surgeries, multiple blood transfusions… and open-heart surgery while pregnant — which still doesn’t sound real when I type it,” she wrote, in part. “Recovery is hard. No romantic version. I’m doing the day-by-day thing, while my body tries to heal and grow a baby. I wake up scared and disoriented sometimes. But I’m here. Baby’s here. And I’m so deeply grateful.”
She concluded, “This month has stripped life right back: the only thing that matters is the people you love — and telling them. Thank you for every message, prayer, check-in, meal, and bit of support. It’s carried me more than you know.”
