Call her…Mommy? Alex Cooper is trading in her signature TMI for some much-deserved TLC, turning a few surprise gifts to expecting parents into something much bigger.
As Alex Cooper, 31, prepares to welcome her first child with husband Matt Kaplan, the Call Her Daddy Podcast host is paying it forward, partnering with the registry platform Babylist to help other new and expecting parents prepare for the arrival of their own bundle — or bundles — of joy.
The star, who announced her pregnancy in May, has candidly taken to social media to document her first-trimester journey, leaning on her audience for guidance and support along the way.
On August 10, the co-founder and co-CEO of Unwell revealed via Instagram that she has been secretly playing fairy godmother to her fans all week, scouring their baby registries and checking items off their lists one by one.
“You guys have been there for me during this process, and I want to do the same for you,” the star said at the time, revealing she had spent her weekend filling the baby registries of fans. “So, let’s keep it going. Like why stop here? Father Cooper’s ready to clear it out,” she continued, encouraging her followers to reach out. “This week I’m just gonna keep chugging along and fulfilling registries in this call her mother era.”
Cooper kept her promise, spending the rest of the week gifting everything from nursery furniture to newborn essentials as more parents found their lists suddenly fulfilled. When she finally posted about the effort, the followers responded instantly, with more than 6,000 comments landing in the first 30 minutes as expectant parents traded advice, gratitude and relief in their replies.
“Clearing out registries was a way to thank the community for all their incredible support and advice,” said Cooper, in a press release for the collaboration. “Reading their stories and seeing what that meant to them made me want to find a way for Unwell to keep paying that forward. Babylist immediately understood that we had the opportunity to have the conversations with new moms that no one else was having, helping millions of new parents navigate the ups, down and unknowns of their first year as parents.”
The collaboration, announced Monday, is set to roll out in phases and will open with an effort to gather input directly from the fans who responded to Cooper’s registry-clearing spree, while the podcast host continues surprising parents with gifts while also giving them the opportunity to share their own stories, with Babylist and Pampers lending behind-the-scenes support. The two also plan to work with Unwell to support charitable organizations that help families during pregnancy and in the early stages of parenthood.
