Austin Butler’s 1st Celeb Crush Was Boy Meets World’s Danielle Fishel

By Michael Feb 2, 2024

Celebrities are just like Us — they get crushes on famous folks too.

Amy Adams admitted during a November 2020 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that she developed a “retroactive crush” on Robert De Niro after watching him in old movies including The Godfather and The Deer Hunter.

“Meaning, like, I have a crush on him in the ’70s,” Adams explained. “I mean, not that I wouldn’t have a crush on him now, but you know, I’m married.”

Celebrity crushes are not limited to pining from afar. Emma Watson, who played Hermione in the Harry Potter franchise, revealed that she was smitten with costar Tom Felton (who played Draco Malfoy) early in their friendship.

“He was my first crush,” Watson told Seventeen in June 2011. “We still laugh about it. We are really good friends now, and that’s cool.”

Keep scrolling to see who the stars have crushed on on:

Selena Gomez and Cole Sprouse
The Only Murders in the Building star opened up about her childhood crush on Sprouse in her Apple+ documentary, My Mind and Me — which was released in November 2022 — revealing that she drew his name on the wall of the closet in her childhood bedroom. “I had a crush on Cole and Dylan Sprouse, so I’d come in my closet, and I would write things down,” Gomez said in the film, before discovering the phrase “Cole Loves Selena” in a heart is still visible on the wall. “I’m sorry, Cole, if you ever see this!”
That same month, she told E! News that she wasn’t embarrassed by her “honest” admission in the documentary. “I [still] think he’s adorable. But, yeah, I hope he doesn’t think I’m a weirdo,” she explained.

During an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden in April 2022, the “Havana” singer opened up about how her celebrity crush helped her make the life-changing decision that launched her career in 2012.  “I was 15. I was, like, a huge One Direction fan, and I was like, ‘The Voice [or] X Factor?'” Cabello recalled during Carpool Karaoke. “I was like, ‘Well, One Direction will be at X Factor. I don’t know if they’ll be at The Voice, so let me audition for X Factor.'”
She continued, adding, “This is really embarrassing, and I can only say this because, obviously, that was, like, 10 years ago, but I literally was like, ‘I’m auditioning for X Factor because I will marry Harry Styles.'”
The singer explained that while she wasn’t so sure about saying “I do,” she “really did believe” that a romance was inevitable. “‘We’re gonna meet. I’m gonna become a singer, and we’ll probably fall in love,'” she recalled thinking. “By the way, that’s the first time I’ve ever confessed the real intention of me auditioning for X Factor.”

After Ricciardo appeared on an episode of “Armchair Expert,” he said the two of them “kind of hit it off.” Shepard joked that he “pushed hard, got a phone number” and now they’re inseparable. “We’ve just really been building this thing that’s culminated in us seeing the world together, really,” The Ranch alum said.
His wife, Kristen Bell, was very much on board. “They’re really cute. I fully support this,” she told DeGeneres.

Dolly Parton and Jimmy Fallon
The “Jolene” singer told W Magazine in October 2021 that she’s “always had good luck with late-night guys,” which might explain her crush on the host of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“Well, I have a crush on Jimmy Fallon, but I’m big now, I can’t excuse myself on that!” the 9 to 5 actress joked, adding, “I think he is precious. He’s so funny. We get along so good.”
That closeness she shares with the Saturday Night Live alum might have something to do with the hours he keeps. “I guess there’s something about those late-night people that kinda hits my fancy and I hit theirs somehow,” the country music icon explained. “I guess it’s ’cause you feel like you can be more free late at night. You don’t have to worry about what you say.”

In a July 2021 GQ profile, Machine Gun Kelly (real name Colson Baker) dished about all of his dreams coming true — and not just because of the musical accolades he’s earned, but because of the lucky lady on his arm during all the red carpets.
The GQ writer, Wesley Lowery, attended high school with the “Bloody Valentine” rapper and reminisced that his old friend long admired the New Girl alum, explaining that Baker was “the teenager who got the Decepticons logo from Transformers tattooed on his arm and hung a poster of Megan Fox in his bedroom.” Baker confirmed that the aforementioned poster was from a GQ shoot that Fox had done at the time, calling this interview “some full-circle s–t.”

Stone’s favorite memory of winning best actress at the 2017 Academy Awards was receiving the trophy from her childhood crush.
“That was what was going through my mind ‘cause it was him. … I’d seen Titanic seven and a half times in theaters. He was the love of my life,” she said during an interview on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show in May 2021. “I had a picture of him in my bedroom that was signed, that I had gotten for my birthday when I was like 12 years old. I was walking to Leo and I was like, ‘This is officially the most surreal moment of my life.’ I could not believe it.”
She added: “I think he probably thinks I’m like a little weird, ‘cause whenever I see him, I’m kind of like, ‘Hey, how’s it going?’ You know, just in little moments, either at the same event or something. He’s very sweet though. But that was truly — that was what was the craziest experience was the fact that it was him.”

The Sharp Objects alum revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in November 2020 that she got a “retroactive crush” on De Niro after watching his older films for the first time, including The Godfather and The Godfather Part II. “I have a crush on him in the ’70s,” she said. “I mean, not that I wouldn’t have a crush on him now, but you know, I’m married.”
After Kimmel joked that having a crush on the actor “in the ‘70s” and not on him “in his 70s,” Adams noted that she hasn’t ruled De Niro out based on age just yet. “I mean, I’m open to having a crush on him in his 70s. I think that could happen,” she added.

The actor finally met Zendaya for the first time at the 2019 People’s Choice Awards in October 2019. “I just … I remember seeing her in the corner of my eye and walking up to her,” he recalled on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in March 2020. “And I was really, really nervous and I was like, ‘Oh, my God. It’s actually her. This is the first time I’m meeting her.’ And she smelled great. And she was so … she was so cute and she was, like, towered over me and she, like, bent down and she was like, ‘Hi, Noah,’ with her little squeaky voice. Yeah, I remember everything.”

And I bought a lighter from Budgens so that I could walk up to him and offer to light his cigarette. And it was already lit, so, that was just embarrassing,” she confessed in the clip. The Dark Phoenix star said she later tweeted about her run-in with the actor, but to little avail. “I thought he might see this tweet and then, I don’t know, reach out to me, and ask me on a date or something, but he didn’t,” she said.

He’s old enough to say that, right? He’s over 18? What if I was like, ‘He’s hot!’ and he’s 15?”
