Celebrity Couples Who Got Married in Secret

Niecy Nash and more stars were pros at keeping their wedding ceremonies private.

“Mrs. Carol Denise Betts,” Nash wrote via Instagram in August 2020 alongside a photo from her wedding to singer Jessica Betts. In a separate post on her Instagram Story, the Rookie: Feds star joked, “#PlotTwist.”

Niecy was previously married to Don Nash from 1994 to 2007 and to Jay Tucker from 2011 to 2019. In February 2020, Niecy tearfully confirmed the end of her second marriage, admitting that she and Tucker were “better friends than life partners.”

“The one that made me laugh the most was an ode to him being attractive. [They said] ‘Well, you never had to put a sack on his head to sleep with him,’” she recalled of her family’s reaction to her divorce. “I replied, ‘What about my happiness?’”

Niecy had not previously confirmed her relationship with Betts before hard-launching their relationship with surprise nuptials.

The couple revealed in a May 2022 on SiriusXM’s “The Jess Cagle Show” that they’d gotten married in a hurry before Lynskey filmed Yellowjackets in spring 2021. The show was filming amid the coronavirus pandemic in Vancouver, which had very strict rules about who could visit at the time.
“I was going to Canada for Yellowjackets and I was on the phone with somebody and they said, ‘Oh, he won’t be allowed in,'” the actress explained. “I was like, ‘We have a child. What? I can’t leave for six months,’ so I was like, ‘We have to get married tomorrow.’”
She added that it was a small wedding with only two witnesses. “We got married on our front porch of our little rental house in Atlanta. Nice lady came and married us. We had two friends there,” Lyskey revealed.

Then COVID happened, and it’s still happening, and we just realized we’re going to be planning this for the rest of our lives and probably never doing it.”
The then-pregnant star continued: “So we decided one day to go to the Honda Center in Anaheim, [California], and [tie the knot]. This was perfect. We got married and then we got to go home and take an afternoon nap.”
