Scottie Scheffler has given credit to wife Meredith Scheffler throughout his golf career.
The couple met when they were teenagers attending Highland Park High School in Texas and then exchanged vows in December 2020. In April 2022, Meredith caddied for her husband during the Par 3 Contest ahead of the 86th Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
The Par 3 Contest was hardly the most exciting part of the 2022 Masters week, however. Scottie earned his green jacket after dominating the tournament. While he was in the lead going into the final round, the golfer revealed that he was feeling anxious and he gave a shout-out to Meredith and their faith for helping him pull through.
“So for me, my identity isn’t a golf score. Like Meredith told me this morning, ‘If you win this golf tournament today, if you lose this golf tournament by 10 shots, if you never win another golf tournament again’ — she goes, ‘I’m still going to love you, you’re still going to be the same person, Jesus loves you and nothing changes,’” Scottie told reporters after he won the 2022 Masters. “All I’m trying to do is glorify God and that’s why I’m here and that’s why I’m in position. So for me, it’s not about a golf score.”
He added that Meredith’s pep talk “100 percent” makes him less on edge. “I have such a great support system, and I’m so blessed,” he said through tears during another moment in the celebration. “I’m so thankful for the sacrifices my support system has had for me in my lifetime, and I’m so glad we could enjoy this moment together.”

Meredith and her husband were equally overwhelmed with emotion when he won the World Golf Championship Dell Technology Match Play in March.

Meredith got visibly emotional watching Scottie win his first major championship, the 2022 Masters, in April 2022.

The professional athlete took home the win at the Phoenix Open in February, and his wife was there to celebrate.

Meredith made a brief cameo during episode 2 of Netflix’s Full Swing, which premiered in February. The docuseries cataloged Scottie’s road to his 2022 Masters win — and the rest of the year’s PGA tour for the golfing community.

“When in Rome,” Scottie captioned an Instagram photo of him and Meredith while overseas.

Meredith was not at The Masters in April 2024 as she pregnant with their first child and watched from home in Texas. He told ESPN before the tournament that while she wasn’t due until the end of the month, he was willing to walk away from The Masters if she went into labor. “If she calls me while I’m on the 17th, then I better go home,” he said
As he approached the top of the leader board on April 14, he told reporters that winning wasn’t everything. “Right now, the most exciting thing is not winning the Masters, it’s baby coming pretty soon,” Scottie said.
He ultimately won the tournament by four strokes.
2024
The couple welcomed their first baby, son Bennett, on May 8. “Welcome to the world little one. Your mom & dad love you so much,” Scottie wrote via Instagram one week later.

Scottie celebrated a gold medal win for Team USA in individual golf on August 4, 2024 at the Paris Olympics. Unable to hold back tears as the national anthem played, Scottie celebrated the emotional win with Meredith and Bennett.
