Rapper Bhad Bhabie Through the Years: Inside Her Unusual Rise to Fame

Before Bhad Bhabie launched a reality TV and rap career, she was best known as the “Cash Me Outside” girl.

In 2016, Bhabie (real name Danielle Bregoli) appeared in a segment for Dr. Phil that was titled “I Want to Give Up My Car-Stealing, Knife-Wielding, Twerking 13-Year-Old Daughter Who Tried to Frame Me for a Crime.”

Bhabie created her own catchphrase on the show, when, angered by the audience’s laughter at her, she uttered, “Cash me outside, how ‘bout dat.” (It was explained that it meant she was asking for a fight.)

After Bhabie’s comment became a meme and went viral on the internet, she became known as the “Cash Me Outside girl” and launched her own music career. Several of her rap songs have been certified gold and platinum.

“I’ve always loved music. When I first started, I didn’t really have the confidence and didn’t think I could actually do it,” Bhabie told Basic magazine in 2023. “I was working with a lot of cowriters, but now, I do most of the writing by myself. I’ve definitely evolved. I’ve always loved music and rapping, so making it a profession came naturally to me.”

The next year, Bhabie gave birth to her first baby, daughter Kali, with partner Le Vaughn.

Keep scrolling to revisit Bhabie’s journey in the spotlight:

2016
Bhabie’s mother had asked Dr. Phil McGraw to help her daughter since she was struggling to raise her.
“Catch me outside, that’s what I always do and they never catch me,” she exclaimed, pronouncing “catch” like “cash.” Bhabie added, “‘Ain’t nobody gonna catch me.”
After Bhabie let out her now-signature catchphrase, the TV doctor asked if it was because she was “too streetwise.” Bhabie concurred.

2017
One year later, Bhabie launched her rap career. She became the youngest artist to have three singles debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

2019
She documented her life in the limelight on Snapchat’s original Bringing Up Bhabie reality TV show.
“I’m just really tired of people thinking that I don’t do nothing,” she told Billboard. “People think my team does everything for me, and it’s really not like that.”
Bhabie further noted that she wanted to do reality TV “because me and everyone around me are just funny all the time.”
Bringing Up Bhabie ran for one season.

2020
Bhabie has been in an on-off relationship with Le Vaughn since 2020. Four years later, she clapped back at his haters in his defense.
“Leave my man alone, my bad,” Bhabie coyly wrote via Instagram Story in November 2024.

2022
She expanded her resume by launching an OnlyFans account, which has earned more than $57 million.
“I can’t tell you all my secrets,” she said in a YouTube video for Complex in June. “But, if you want to know my secrets, you can come sign with Scoop Entertainment and we’ll tell you all the secrets.”

2024
Bhabie and Le Vaughn welcomed their first child, daughter Kali, in March when the rap star was 21 years old.
Less than eight months later, Bhabie revealed that she was taking cancer medication.
“I’m sorry my cancer medicine made me loose [sic] weight,” she wrote via Instagram Story in November 2024. “I’m slowly gaining back. So, stop running [with] the worst narratives 💕.”
It is not known whether Bhabie has cancer. Us Weekly reached out for comment at the time.
