Sometimes celebrities reunite after getting divorced — just so they can call it quits again (and again).
Plenty of stars have been married and divorced more than once, but there are certain star-powered couples who can’t stop coming back to each other for more.
Stars have been breaking up and making up has been happening for years, all the way back to Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton , who met on the set of 1963’s Cleopatra — and they only filed for divorce twice. Some couples, like Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus , filed for divorce three times in nearly 30 years of marriage before it finally stuck. Cardi B and Offset , meanwhile, split and reconciled several times while welcoming three children together in the process. (The “WAP” rapper filed to divorce Offset for a second time in August 2024.)
Keep reading to find out more about celebrity couples who have filed for divorce more than once:
Cardi B and Offset
The rappers tied the knot in September 2017, but Cardi confirmed in December 2018 that she and Offset had split after he allegedly cheated on her. Cardi has accused Offset of being unfaithful to her several times, which he later apologized for in an emotional December 2018 social media post addressed to his ex.
“I only have one birthday wish, and that’s to get my wife back,” he said in a video shared via Instagram, telling Cardi he was sorry for “breaking your heart, breaking our promise, breaking God’s promise and being a selfish, messed-up husband.”
While the couple ultimately reconciled, Us Weekly confirmed in September 2020 that Cardi had filed for divorce and they’d split for a second time. One month later, they were back together. It wasn’t until August 2024 that Cardi B filed for divorce for a second time after six years of marriage.
Her rep confirmed to Us at the time that she had filed the divorce documents and was seeking primary custody of their children. (The pair welcomed son Kulture in 2018, daughter Wave in 2021, and a third baby, a girl, born in September 2024.) Their divorce has not yet been finalized.
Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus
Tish and Billy Ray have filed to divorce each other more than once over the course of their marriage, which spanned nearly three decades.
The pair wed in 1993 and share three kids: Miley, Braison and Noah, and the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer adopted Brandi and Trace, Tish’s two kids from her previous marriage.
Billy Ray originally filed to divorce Tish in 2010, though it was dropped a few months later. Tish filed her own divorce paperwork in 2013, which was quickly rescinded the following month.
“This is a personal matter and we are working to find a resolution that is in the best interest of our family,” Tish told Us in a statement at the time. “We ask that you respect our privacy at this time.” According to court documents obtained by Us, Tish filed for divorce again in April 2022, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. She wed Prison Break alum Dominic Purcell in August 2023. Billy Ray, for his part, married musician Firerose (real name “Johanna Rose Hodges”) in October 2023. The pair divorced less than one year later.
Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green
Fox and Green first got engaged in November 2006 before calling things off in 2009. However, they reunited the following year and tied the knot in June 2010 at the Four Seasons on Hawaii’s Big Island.
Fox and Green share three children: sons Noah, Bodhi, and Journey. They welcomed Noah in 2012, and Bodhi in February 2014. More than one year later, they announced their separation and filed for divorce in August 2015, citing irreconcilable differences. Despite the split, the pair still welcomed Bodhi together in 2016. That same year, a source confirmed to Us that the duo were “totally back together.” Fox filed to dismiss their divorce case in 2019.
In November 2020, Us confirmed that Fox had filed for a second time to divorce Green and that the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum had filed for joint custody of their three children. Their divorce was not finalized until February 2022. Fox is expecting her fourth child with fiance Machine Gun Kelly, while Green moved on with Sharna Burgess. The couple welcomed son Zane Walker Green with in June 2022.
Kroy Biermann and Kim Zolciak-Biermann
Us confirmed in May 2023 that Biermann filed for divorce from Zolciak-Biermann after more than a decade of marriage. The pair tied the knot in 2011 and share children Kroy “KJ” Jr, Kash, Kaia and Kane. Biermann also adopted Zolciak-Biermann’s daughters — Brielle and Ariana — from a previous relationship.
Zolciak-Biermann filed to dismiss her ex-husband’s petition in July of that year. Biermann’s attorney, Marlys Bergstrom, confirmed to Us at the time that the NFL star and RHOA star had decided to dismiss their divorce and reconcile. One month later, however, Biermann filed to divorce Zolciak again, and requested full legal and physical custody of their four minor children, as well as alimony and child support.
The estranged pair’s divorce has not yet been finalized, though a judge scheduled their divorce trial date for November 2024. Additionally, Zolciak-Biermann and Biermann have struggled to sell their Georgia home which came close to foreclosure in 2023.
Pamela Anderson and Rick Saloman
Anderson and Saloman wed in Las Vegas in 2007. The marriage was later annulled, but the duo remarried in 2014 and filed for divorce six months later. Their divorce was finalized in 2015.
“Public divorces can be harsh and cruel – we apologize to our families and friends for any hurt and embarrassment we have caused,” the exes wrote in a joint statement to Us at the time. “We have come to an amicable agreement and are moving on.”
Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton
Taylor and Burton first met on the set of the 1963 movie, Cleopatra. Both were married to other people at the time: Taylor to Eddie Fisher and Burton to Sybil Williams. While filming, Taylor and Burton began a passionate affair and both divorced their respective spouses for each other. They tied the knot in Montreal on March 15, 1964. It was Taylor’s fifth wedding, Burton’s second.
After a volatile first 10 years together, the pair announced their divorce in 1974, but remarried less than one year later in Botswana. “We exchanged rings, fathomless looks, and were married once again, back where we belonged. Always belonged,” Taylor wrote in a diary entry from that time.
They called it quits again — and for good — in 1976.
Eminem and Kim Scott
Eminem’s (real name Marshall Mathers) contentious on-again-off-again relationship with his former high school sweetheart Kimberly Anne Scott traces all the way back to the 1980s when he was 15 and she was 13.
The pair welcomed their only daughter Hailie in 1995 and tied the knot in 1999. However, they were divorced by 2001. Eminem and Scott ultimately reconciled and remarried in January 2006, but the Grammy winner filed for divorce again in April that same year. They finalized their second divorce in December 2006.
“In our relationship, there’s a pattern. Like, we’ll have two good years and then it will go bad for some reason,” Kim said of Eminem during a 2007 interview with 20/20. “It’s like a two-year max with us and we hadn’t reached the two years yet. I just didn’t want to rush into anything before the two years.”
Barbara Walters and Merv Adelson
Walters was married four times, twice to Adelson. They were first married from 1981 until their divorce in 1984, but gave marriage to each other one more chance from 1986 to 1992, when they divorced a second and final time.
Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson
Griffith and Johnson famously married and divorced each other twice. After moving in together when she was 15 and he was 22, they got engaged on her 18th birthday and tied the knot in 1976. They divorced six months later.
After some time apart, the duo rekindled their relationship and remarried in 1989. They divorced again for good in 1996, having welcomed daughter Dakota Johnson during their five year marriage.
Ray J and Princess Love
Ray J and Princess Love tied the knot in 2016. Love filed for divorce in 2020, but filed to dismiss it only two months later. That September, Ray J filed for divorce on his side but requested a dismissal in February the following year.
In October 2021, he filed for a second time before calling off the divorce again in March 2023. The pair announced their decision to file for divorce a third time in February 2024, which has not yet been finalized.
“Ray J and Princess have had an on and off relationship for a long time. And even though they’ve broken up in the past, this time feels very different,” a source exclusively told Us in April 2024. “They’re both walking away knowing for sure that they truly made an effort at saving their marriage.”
