Selena Gomez’s high-profile relationships have made headlines over the years, from her off-and-on romance with Justin Bieber to her brief relationship with The Weeknd.
“I’m the kind of girl that loves tremendously big. I just have always been that girl,” Gomez told Miami’s Power 96.5 FM in May 2017. “I will give my heart and my soul to the person that I love. It’s just how I operate.”
Three years later, Gomez opened up about “the concept of having a normal human relationship” as a celebrity. “If I can be honest, it is just so cliché. Everyone dates everyone,” she told Apple Music’s Beats 1 in January 2020. “It always seems to be within a little bubble and it’s because it’s safe, right? You know, you’re wanting someone to understand what you’re going through. You’re almost wanting a counterpart of creativity as well and it’s, you know, interesting and fun.”
After a series of ups and downs with Bieber and other boyfriends, Gomez embraced time alone, telling The Wall Street Journal in January 2020 that she had “been single for over two years.”
By December 2023, Gomez found love again with Benny Blanco, revealing at the time that the pair began dating six months prior. She announced their engagement in December 2024.

The Disney Channel stars dated in 2008. “We were babies,” she told Capital FM in September 2015. “That, to me, was like puppy love, you know. It was very sweet.” Gomez — who played his love interest in the music video for the Jonas Brothers’ “Burnin’ Up” — and best friend Taylor Swift bonded while they were dating the “Jealous” crooner and his brother Joe Jonas, respectively.
Taylor Lautner
Gomez had a brief romance with the Twilight star in 2009 — before he dated Swift. “Kristen [Stewart] was staying in my hotel,” she explained to Seventeen in 2009. “He would visit her, so we were constantly running into each other in the lobby — and we ended up meeting. We would go out to lunch and dinner, but I knew he had paparazzi following him and I had paparazzi following me. So we literally just wanted to hang out, go bowling and stuff, and it went a little too far, I think. People were getting a little crazy about us.”
Justin Bieber
After repeatedly claiming they were more like siblings than lovebirds, Gomez and Bieber confirmed their romance in February 2011. They split in November 2012 before reconnecting in April 2013. The “I Want You to Know” collaborators dated in early 2015. “I adore Zedd a lot and I definitely had a thing with him, which was nice,” Gomez admitted on New Zealand’s The Edge Afternoons in June 2015.
The DJ reflected on the high-profile situation in August 2017. “Reporters were calling my parents. People were hacking my friends’ phones. I was pissed, [though] I kind of knew what I was getting myself into,” he told Billboard. “She is one of the most talked-about people in the world, but I had no idea how much that would change my life.”
Niall Horan
The Monte Carlo star and the former One Direction member were spotted on multiple dates in December 2015 and were reportedly kissing at Jenna Dewan’s 35th birthday party. The twosome were linked again in late 2019, but Horan claimed in December of that year that he was “very much single.”

The “Attention” singer told Billboard in February 2018 that the relationship was “very short-lived, very small, but very impactful.” He elaborated: “It really messed me up. “They go bowling and to the movies,” the source added. “They are so affectionate and having a lot of fun together, Selena can hardly keep her hands off him.”
Zayn Malik
The “Sober” singer and the former One Direction member made headlines in March 2023 when they were spotted spending time together in New York City and sharing a kiss, per Entertainment Tonight.
“Zayn has known Selena for years and he’s definitely into her,” an insider exclusively told Us Weekly at the time. “He’s always admired her and thinks she’s an incredible person, inside and out.” However, the twosome weren’t “super serious” or exclusive just yet.

Benny Blanco
Gomez sparked dating rumors with the music producer in December 2023 after she shared a pic of herself resting her head on a man’s chest via her Instagram Story. She followed up the photo by writing, “Just a reminder of how much I appreciate and love each and everyone [sic] of you.”
She hinted that Blanco was the identity of her mystery man by commenting, “Facts,” on a post speculating the two were dating. Gomez later confirmed that the twosome had been together for six months.
