Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are both natives of the land down under, but the couple met and fell in love on the other side of the world.
Kidman and Urban first crossed paths at the G’Day USA Gala — an event honoring Australians in Los Angeles — in 2005. Kidman was immediately smitten with the country singer, but Urban took a little longer to come around.
“I remember thinking I had such a crush on him, and he wasn’t interested in me,” Kidman told Ellen DeGeneres in 2017. “It’s true! He didn’t call me for four months.”
Urban recalled being in an “unhealthy place” when he first encountered the Big Little Lies actress, which made him wait to call her. In time, Urban made his move, and the pair eventually tied the knot in June 2006.
They have since welcomed two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, and become each other’s biggest supporters. (Kidman is also the mother of Isabella and Conner, whom she adopted with ex-husband Tom Cruise.)

Kidman and Urban were introduced at the G’Day USA Gala in Los Angeles. On their 10th wedding anniversary, the Grammy winner shared via Instagram the first photo that he said the couple took “within minutes of meeting each other.”

The couple wed in Manly, Australia, with celebrity guests including Russell Crowe, Naomi Watts and Hugh Jackman in attendance.

Kidman staged an intervention for her husband, who entered the Betty Ford Center after battling substance abuse for years.

Kidman gave birth to their daughter, Sunday Rose, on July 7. The Others star shared a throwback photo of the parents holding their newborn baby in July 2018.

Urban revealed that the racy lyrics in his 2018 song “Gemini” are about his wife in an interview with iNews. “The song is actually about Nicole – and she loves it,” he said at the time. “It’s a fun song. My cowriter Julia Michaels asked me to describe Nicole and that’s what came out.”

Kidman praised Urban for supporting her while she filmed the darker scenes on Big Little Lies season 2.

An eyewitness told Us Weekly that Kidman was “crying” at the Gold Meets Golden pre-Golden Globes event in Beverly Hills, after learning that the couple’s house was “under threat” from the Australian bushfires.
The actress later told Extra that their house wasn’t harmed. “Our home is OK,” she said. “It’s been under threat, though, it’s been under enormous threat, and the surrounding areas have been very, very badly burned.”

The couple’s two daughters, Sunday and Faith, joined them for a rare outing to toast Kidman’s illustrious career at the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award Gala in Los Angeles. Kidman’s sister, Antonia, and her niece Sybella were also there for the big event.
“There’s also the most important thing, love,” Kidman said during her speech, pointing to her family as her inspiration. “Big, big love. And then right there is the love of my life, and the loves of my life. My daughters have never been anywhere publicly with me on a red carpet, tonight was their first night, so they’re here, Sunday and Faith.”

One month prior, Urban revealed that he still strives for Kidman’s approval when making new music. “It fires me up a bit more,” he told People in May 2024 when talking about how he feels with Kidman in the crowd at one of his shows. “I try to impress her.”

Kidman joined her husband on stage during the Concert for Carolina benefit show in North Carolina to celebrate his 57th birthday.
“I do wanna say, it’s his birthday tonight and he went, ‘The one thing I can do … ‘” Kidman told the crowd. She then kissed Urban before she and Eric Church sang “Happy Birthday” to him.
