Katy Perry has been turning heads since she sang about kissing a girl in 2008 — and her real-life love stories have been equally thrilling to watch unfold.
Perry was married to comedian Russell Brand for one year before they split in December 2011. She followed up the relationship by dating John Mayer on and off from 2012 to 2014. The twosome reconnected, but called it quits for good in 2015.
The singer’s longest relationship to date was with Orlando Bloom. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor proposed in February 2019 after an on-off romance with Perry that began in 2016.
After nearly a decade together, Us Weekly confirmed in June 2025 that Perry was single again. “Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life,” a source told Us after news broke of Perry and Bloom’s breakup.

Johnny Lewis
Perry dated the Sons of Anarchy actor from 2005 to 2006, just one year before her singing career took off. Years later, Lewis died at age 28 after falling from a rooftop in September 2012.
Travie McCoy
Perry and the Gym Class Heroes frontman dated from 2007 to 2008. When MTV News asked the pop star how she felt about her split from McCoy in early 2009, she suggested that her love life had taken a backseat to her burgeoning career. “Well, it’s a new year, and I’m very focused,” Perry said at the time.
Josh Groban
Perry and Groban were rumored to have dated in early 2009. Though reps for both artists denied a relationship, Groban later suggested that he and the “California Gurls” singer were more than platonic at one point.
“We might have skated on the line of dating,” he told Details in 2013. Perry recently joked in a YouTube livestream that Groban was “the one that got away.”
Russell Brand
Perry’s whirlwind romance with Brand began in 2009, after hitting it off at the MTV Video Music Awards. They tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony in India in October 2010 — barely a year after meeting. Perry called it quits on their marriage after 14 months, and the pair finalized their divorce in July 2012.
Robert Ackroyd
In spring 2012, Perry briefly dated the Florence + The Machine guitarist. However, she wasn’t fully ready to commit so soon after her divorce from Brand. “[It’s] not even appropriate to label [us a couple],” she told USA Today at the time. “There are times I go out and meet people and flirt, but it’s not really appropriate to have anything serious.”
John Mayer
Perry and the “Daughters” crooner started dating in 2012, but broke up in 2014. Though they briefly reunited in 2015, the duo couldn’t make it last. Despite their split, Mayer — who collaborated with Perry on 2013’s “Who You Love” – told Ellen DeGeneres that he was unwilling to divulge what went wrong between them.
“I can understand asking the question based on some previous answers I have given, but I have finally learned how to put the wall between one thing and the other,” he explained at the time. “I’ve been much happier since then.”
Diplo
Perry and the DJ dated for nearly a year before they pulled the plug in March 2015.
Orlando Bloom
The couple first met at CAA’s 2016 Golden Globes afterparty at Sunset Tower in January 2016. They split in February 2017 before rekindling their romance in January 2018. On Valentine’s Day in 2019, the actor popped the question with a stunning engagement ring. “Lifetimes,” he captioned an Instagram photo of the couple. On her own account, Perry added: “full bloom.”
Bloom and Perry welcomed their first baby, daughter Daisy, in August 2020. Nearly five years later, Us confirmed in June 2025 that the pair had called it quits.
