Late conservative commentator Charlie Kirk knew that he and wife Erika Kirk (née Frantzve) were meant to be from their first conversation.
Erika revealed in a 2023 Instagram post that the couple met in 2018 for what was supposed to be a job interview. However, after chatting about their shared beliefs, Charlie told the woman who would later become his wife, “I’m going to date you.”
Charlie and Erika tied the knot in May 2021. They welcomed two children in 2022 and 2024, respectively.
Tragedy struck the family on September 10, 2025, when Charlie was fatally shot at a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University. Erika broke her silence two days later via a livestream on Charlie’s X account.

“Charlie loved life. He loved his life, he loved America, he loved nature which always helped him be closer to God,” she said.

2018
Erika opened up about meeting Charlie in a 2023 Instagram post.
“5 years ago today, we sat inside Bills Burgers in NYC deep in conversation and banter over theology, philosophy and politics and at the end, you paused, looked at me and said, ‘I’m going to date you,’” she wrote.
Five days after Charlie’s death, Erika shared a video of Charlie telling the story to their daughter.
“It started as a job interview … and then I realized Mama was beautiful and smart and elegant and Christlike, and so I said, ‘Forget this job interview. I want to date you,’” he said.
“My favorite love story,” Erika captioned the post.
December 2020
Erika announced her engagement to Charlie via Instagram with the caption, “When God writes your love story, you get to marry your best friend.”
May 2021
Erika and Charlie got married in Scottsdale, Arizona, on May 8, 2021. Charlie’s conservative nonprofit organization, Turning Point USA, funded a wedding reception at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess hotel.
August 2022
The couple welcomed their daughter in August 2022.
Erika opened up about the struggle of explaining Charlie’s death to their little girl in her livestream.
“When I got home last night, Gigi, our daughter, just ran into my arms and I talked to her and she said, ‘Mommy, I miss you,’ and I said, ‘I miss you too, baby,’ and she goes, ‘Where’s daddy?’” the mom of two said. “How do you tell a 3-year-old? She’s 3. And I said, ‘Daddy loves you so much, baby, he’s on a work trip with Jesus so he can afford your blueberry budget.’”
May 2024
Erika and Charlie’s son, whose name has been kept private, arrived in May 2024.
Erika gushed about Charlie’s love for his family in her livestream.
“Charlie loved his children and he loved me with all of his heart and I knew that every day. He made sure I knew that every day,” she said. “Every day he would ask me, ‘How can I serve you better? How can I be a better husband? How can I be a better father?’ … He was such a good man. He still is such a good man. He was the perfect father. He was the perfect husband.”
September 2025
Turning Point confirmed Charlie’s death at age 31 on September 10.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we, the Turning Point USA leadership team, write to notify you that early this afternoon, Charlie went to his eternal reward with Jesus Christ in Heaven,” the organization said in a statement.
During Charlie’s memorial service on September 21, 2025, Erika publicly forgave Tyler Robinson, her husband’s accused killer.
“I forgive him because it is what Christ did,” she said. “The answer to hate is not hate.”
She also urged those in attendance to follow her husband’s example in marriage.
“Please be a leader worth following,” she continued. “Your wife is not your servant. Your wife is not your employee. Your wife is not your slave. She is your helper. You are not rivals. You are one flesh, working together for the glory of God.”
